I just charge it where I am, with a wall charger. I can read on it while it charges.

But that would require a wall charger next to my bed. While I do have a socket there, it's being used by my alarm clock and our landline phone (the only phone I want in the bedroom, only for emergencies).

Well, that's what multiple-socket extensions are for. I wouldn't plug a refrigerator or a washing machine into such, but a clock, an ereader, other small electronics are entirely suitable.

The contrast is better than a Forma (especially when running inverted mode). The frontlight seems somewhat less bright (I was running my Forma at 10%, for a roughly comparable brightness I need to set it to about 20%)

Copying over the books & database from my Forma did not work. It gave a Critical Error when I rebooted it. Clicking that away seemed to work, but it came back at the next eject. It's now importing a stack of books, but I'm not sure that's working; it rebooted at 40%, and connecting and ejecting it, it now hangs at 63%.

Edit: Powering it off & on again and doing another import ran through until the end.

It's running firmware 4.29.18730.

Fun thing: Calibre 5.29 recognizes it for what it is.

How is the weight? Does it seem too heavy compared to the Forma, or is the difference negligible? Does it feel comfortable to hold? (without the cover, I mean).

The supporter of the Kobo drivers in calibre had obtained the USB device ID from Kobo and added it to calibre.

Nice, look forward for the better contrast, even if I don't use inverted mode

This worries me, my Libra was very hectic and randomly giving me errors in Calibre. Often it was disconnecting before the transfers were done, not importing all the books I transferred... (I got it replaced by Kobo and should receive the new one this week)

I hope I won't get that or it's an easy software fix.

If it's any consolation, my Libra has been working perfectly with Calibre. So it seems you got a lemon. Hopefully the replacement is better.

Did I forget to mention that anywhere here? I made sure I had the ids for the last calibre release to make sure the were supported on release.

But, while I was sure there would be no issues, I did not bump the supported firmware version. The ids would allow calibre to see the device, so if there were problems, we would be able to debug what was happening.

That is pretty much expected. I don't think any of the devices with lighting use exactly the same levels.

That is pretty much expected. The database will have changed in some way. And there may be some special keys somewhere.

Yes, I added the ids a couple of weeks ago so that the new devices would be recognised on release.

Yes, I added the ids a couple of weeks ago so that the new devices would be recognised on release.

I didn't really expect the DB copy to work; I have tried that twice before when migrating to a new Kobo (from an Aura HD to a H2O, which did work, and from the H2O to a One, which didn't). I don't know what the initial firmware version was; I forgot to look, and it started updating (to 4.29.18730) as soon as I connected it to my WiFi.

It had to import about 1100 books, so I think it just took too long and sickel kicked it over the first two times (at 40 and 63% done).

I wouldn't worry too much. It had to import about 1100 books, and I think the import runs just took too long and the sickel daemon rebooted it.

In a direct comparison the Sage is heavier, but I'm not sure I'll notice in daily use. The flatter form factor I like better than the Forma, actually.

In my opinion the buttons are still reversed by default for right-handed portrait use (top one is back, bottom forward), but as with the Forma/Libra, you can swap them.

No locking handedness/disabling the gyrosensor in the new firmware, alas.

The light setting at 13 is going to be way too bright. Turn it down.
