hello i jailbroken my pw3 with firmware 5.9.6.1.

i have created the folder setting the name as it described in the first post.

is there any possibility my device upgrade itself?

also, i have it now unregistereted. is this affect the ota updates?

I have a Kindle PW3 (serial number G090 G105 **** ****), running Kindle 5.8.9 (3164600017).
Can I use the jailbreak method stated in the first post of this thread?
I am a bit unsure as in the wiki (https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/5_x_Jailbreak) I read that the jailbreak won't work on any device running a version above 5.8.7...

Would love to jailbreak my Kindle just to turn off the auto-sleep mode (I am a musician and use it to read sheets), as well as using Calibre to organize Collections.

Besides, you can turn off the sleep mode without jb: enter ~ds into the search on the homescreen.

This is the exception mentioned in the Wiki.

There is a special case for the PW3 running 5.9.6.1 firmware or earlier. Please see this thread for instructions.

Do note, if you want to use the Calibre Kindle Collections plugin (requires LibrarianSync KUAL add-on), don't update the firmware to 5.12+. LibrarianSync doesn't work on 5.12 and newer.

If you don't need the new features in higher firmware versions, it's probably safest to stick to 5.9.6.1 so you can always re-jailbreak if needed.

The page you quote is for the general jailbreak method.

This thread is for the special case of PW3 at less than or equal to 5.9.6.1 so You can use the method in the first post in this thread.

But jb makes possible much easier ability to restore sleep mode.

However, I don't find this jailbreaking-thing very fool-proof (maybe no-one ever said it was foolproof, but I wish it was), so now I'm trying to do the collections thing with Calibre, but I'll bother you guys in the right thread for that

Create cr3.conf and put it to /etc/upstart

# cr3 (CoolReader)
start on framework_ready and started kb and started pillow
