Oberon covers: I've bought 2 Oberon *JOURNALS* (I think it's called the small size, as journals go) on eBay, used, so I paid less for them. Then I take out the hardback journal supplied with it, and use the pockets in the cover (intended to hold in the hardback journal) to hold my kindle. I've just switched my Voyage into one of those. That way I can take the Voyage out, and read it "naked", but have a gorgeous cover to protect it. The cover is oversized by 1-2" on all sides ... so I'm pretty sure it'll hold an Oasis .... but that oversized hard leather edge would protect the kindle from drops. On the Oberon web page, you can check the size of the journal covers, to see how much oversize I am talking about.

So, no, mine isn't tailored to the size of the kindle, but I didn't pay the same price either. And I love it! (them ... I have 2 Oberons) Plus, I can re-use the cover on subsequent kindles.

LOL, I'm in charge so I rarely have patients .. happily when I do most of the base of the charting is in the AM when I have contacts in and then I can "copy forward" anything that hasn't changed. I have an appointment to get new glasses this month to see what the heck is happening with my eyes anyway. Last year they changed from -4.25 to -2.75, so they got better but it's a big prescription change. I was feeling the same way at this time or year last year. Then when I got my new glasses last year it was amazing because I was being over corrected and that was why I couldn't see, and on top of it I was getting eye strain from the prescription being too strong.

Here's how a Voyage looks, in a 6.5" by 9" Oberon journal cover. Closed, the kindle cannot come out, and there is a 1-2" margin of heavy leather to protect each corner.

I like the walnut leather case that came with my Oasis better than I thought I would too, so I guess I'm not in a huge hurry right this second.

So, my Kindle Oasis has arrived - Yay!
I love it with a few reservations that I think will disappear as I get accustomed to it.
It is almost too thin to hold onto, which is almost impossible to believe.
If they hadn't made one end thicker I wouldn't ever want to use it without the cover.
It's a little slippery to hold without the cover as well.
My only other issue is it is such a pain downloading the books I want to store on the device all at once from the cloud. I have high speed internet. It seems like the wifi on the Kindle is a lot slower than the wifi on my tablet. However once I switched from trying to download from the cloud on my device to downloading from the cloud on my computer to my device, things went a lot better. The kindle actually crashed a few times when I was trying to download from my kindle.

Now that all of the downloading is over with I can just relax and enjoy reading.
I enjoy reading on it a lot.
I love the size and I do like the shape of it a lot. I know a lot of people don't like the shape but it was one of the reasons I wanted the Oasis and not the Voyage.
It fits into my purse really nicely without adding any noticeable weight to it. I will probably bring this a lot more places than my tablet which was a lot heavier - or my past kindles which were a lot larger.
Now that I have my most favorite 1000 books on it I feel complete (LOL!).
It did make me realize I have only a few books I love as much as some from 2008 when I had a boat load of favorites in my cloud. Of course 2008 was when I got my first kindle and loaded it up with all of my favorites of all time that were available in digital format so it's not a fair comparison.
Anyway I love it and can't wait to get more hours on it
P.S. I do see some really light differences in brightness or cones of light where the LEDs are along the sides. I don't notice a difference in color from one side to the other or from top to bottom. It doesn't bother me.
P.P.S. The bubbles in the screen saver that came from Amazon that are impossible to get rid of are way more annoying!

Oh, I forgot to mention I have the walnut leather case and it feels really nice! Mine doesn't have any issues with scuffing like the one in that video did. I've even taken it in my purse and nothing scratched it or made a mark on it. My case is a darker brown than the one in that video that showed a case that was all scratched up though. It does still feel like leather with cardboard under it like others have mentioned. But because of the finish on the leather is it really soft and rich feeling. I think its going to wear really nicely. I think the one in the video was not conditioned properly.

Yeah. I've never really had anything but shoes made out of leather, so when I scratched my merlot cover a bit I was panicking all over the place. The scratch simply vanished within a day.

Mmm - watch your dimensions. This looks like a tight fit for a Voyage, and isn't the Oasis wider? Check the dimensions he mentions for the device that will fit, not the exterior dimensions. Oberon is a very thick leather, and needs at least 1/2" on each seamed side, on a sleeve like that.

Then again, since the Oasis is really really thin .... maybe. But I'd hate to have to *work* at pulling it out.

But. Ummm. Next Wed or Thurs I will let you know how well those small Oberon sleeves fit a Voyage...... I couldn't resist (but I didn't take the dark blue one you liked).

I love that dragonfly pond sleeve by Oberon. I too will be watching to see if it fits your Voyage. I would love an Oberon case for my Voyage...but its sooo much money...I have been looking for a second hand one, but so far no luck there. But if the sleeve is a fit, one of those would look mighty nice!!

I've seen the "hounds" one second hand on ebay ... if I see the dragonfly one I'll let you know! If the roses one was quite so RED I would be in love with that one ... it's just too red, it needs some brown or something to dull it down just a tad. On the other hand I would never misplace that one.
