I am not sure if the file (it's a .rar with also update.zip in it) they linked me is public yet.
From where you downloaded the update.zip? On their website the lastest I see is from May (Firmware for N96 Series V1.7.5_rc1 20160512).

There were new updates to most onyx ROMs on the ereader-store.de website on 2 July, I'd suspect also for the n96.

That's correct

It seems that on ereader-store they have newer firmwares than the official site...

Hello, guys

Could anyone share with me Onyx support team email, please. I've emailed them regarding missing Onyx dictionary and Pico TTS files on my N96. It's been more than one week no reply from them. I used the only available email their web site provides which is sales@onyx-international.com.

Ivona TTS is already installed but side dictionaries I tried are not good enough ( truth to be told I was expecting something similar to kindle dictionaries). And here it opens a small dictionary window on the top right corner (1/4 of the screen approx.) and the rest 3/4 of the screen is black. It's annoying. Was hoping it's different with inbuilt dictionary.

they don't have any e-mail address for support AFAIK.
I also sent them a mail on the address you mention and they replied after several days but they did it.
I think that they will do the same with you... it will take time but they'll reply.

Anybody heard about new android on onyx n96ml. There is 4.0.0 but 4.4 will be match better for me. Maybe some pre-relise version?

The newes firmware i found at:

Hi,

I'm planning on buying the ONYX BOOX N96 and I have a few questions about the two different models of the device and about where to buy it from.

1. Can the light be completely turned off – not just dimmed – on the front-lit model?
2. Does the model with the front light have the dual-touch feature?
3. If (2) is a no, can the model with the front light be fully operated without the stylus?
4. Does anyone have any experience buying from ereader-store.de? I looked at them and at ebay resellers and ereader-store.de is about 10% cheaper with shipping to where I live. However, I tried getting in touch with them with the above questions (both via email and Skype) and haven’t heard back from them.

I'm interested in the question of delivery : delay, cost, serious, so I follow this subject for a long time. Ereader-store.de is serious about the shipping. '10 %' lower ? Many people thinks that there costs of shipping are too high -

I don't know were you are living, but in Europe there is 2 years of warranty/guarantee - see other posts about the difference between these two words, in Europe it's roughly the same thing.

Sometimes, it's hard to contact them, you could try too the "Contact Form" in there website.

Hello there...

I am new here and about to buy me an N96 or N96ML. I am not a tech savvy dude so basically, I'm gonna seek your advice based on my reading habit. I am doing my Ph.D. in political science, so mostly I will read PDF journal articles and ebooks. I would properly lose the electromagnetic pen at some point and have to solely rely on buttons for reading. I would not do much of note taking or annotation, properly gonna use my e-reader as a second screen.

The questions are:

- N96 or N96 ML (I am leaning toward N96, and I am thinking about getting a LED reading light or something that could stick to my device in case I need to read at night)

- After quite sometimes navigate through different stores, I choose Banggood, the price is about 415$ (roughly 566 Aud, I am living in Queensland, AU):

I am not sure the price is justifiably OK or Banggood is a trusted dealer? It seems like I'm gonna have 1 free PU case and free shipping to Australia.

I hope you don't use the word 'gonna' when you write your doctoral thesis....dude.

I don't own either device, but it sounds like you would be most happy with the one without the light, since you indicate, at some point, that you would lose the pen. Of course, as you point out, you would need a light attached to that unit, the N96.
