In this new version I also ensure to read the metadata from mobi_unpack in with UTF8, as things like "Children of Hurin" weren't reading correctly with the accented characters. Last edited by Ephemerality; 07-16-2015 at 03:23 PM. |

I don't have a Kindle at all anymore, so I can't do anything to fix it unless someone is able to figure it out. Is the X-Ray you built missing characters even from the X-Ray menu itself? There are quite a few blank entries for characters in Children of Hurin. |

Hi Ephemerality, you've been doing some great work on the latest branch
![]() ![]() -Changed author name separator to "+" during Amazon search, seems this is what Amazon is using. -Replace double spaces in author biography. -Removed trimming of book names and use labels AutoEllipsis capability in the previews. -Remove CR, LF and TAB from <recs type="purchase"><title> names. -Remove extra junk in Amazon book image URL. -Minor tweaks to GUI previews. -Set UseMnemonic = false on preview GUIs so "&" displays correctly. -Minor changes to tool tips on settings GUI. -Disabled "Send to Kindle" as it's not implemented yet. -Tried to improve the wrapping of author biography in the preview. -Clear previews for each new book. |

Have you used git before? If not, try reading this tutorial: https://git-scm.com/book/en/v2.

Git for Windows is pretty easy. The tricky part is dealing with local changes when the repository has been updated as you were working on it. Most times, you'll make changes on your local copy, make a little commit message/description, hit commit, then sync and it'll upload them. Getting it set up initially might be a bit tough depending what you've done with it so far, but we'll figure it out. Last edited by Ephemerality; 07-13-2015 at 08:38 PM. |

I can get it to generate all the asc files. I get the X-Ray file, but the About The Author doesn't work. I've copied all the files to .sdr folder. I am on a PW 1 running 5.6.1.1.
Any ideas? |

@eschwartz, thanks for the tutorial link. Nope, not used Git before
![]() @ricocarlos, does the "About the Author" works for any of the books run through the GUI? If so can you attatch the AuthorProfile.profile.ASIN.asc for the book you're having a problem with... |

Here you go. I changed the extension, because it wouldn't allow for asc.
BTW, it does show up nicely in the preview. |

He also did tests for the X-Ray menu not being enabled when you click on words. It seems to depend on how the X-Ray was built and whether or not proper aliases were created. For example, if you have the character "Frodo Baggins" and you highlight both words, X-Ray should show up. If you just click Frodo and did not set an alias for it, it won't work. On that same note, if the case doesn't match exactly it won't find the word as an alias, so the next update has case sensitivity turned off. Let us know if this causes many false matches. Generated file in folder from xray-builder-gui-v2.0.5.6 will work with Amazon Kindle app on android?
I tried in many ways and I always end with grayed-out x ray option in app. Can somebody confirm that it works on android? |

No, it doesn't work on Android anymore as far as I know. It used to, but it stopped working after they updated the app. I'll try it again when I get a chance.

Update: It actually does work on the Android Kindle app now.
The naming format is a bit different, so I will re-enable the "Build for Android" button in the next update. It's not quite as easy to get them into the app as it is for the Kindle. Your book goes in "sdcard/Android/data/com.amazon.kindle/files/". The other files go in "sdcard/Android/data/com.amazon.kindle/files/ASIN/" where ASIN is obviously the ASIN of your book. The EndActions file's name is the same as for Kindle. The X-Ray's name needs to be "XRAY.ASIN.DBNAME_GUID.db" where ASIN is the ASIN, DBNAME is the book's database name (can be grabbed from the builder), and same for the GUID. |
