I hope the Harlequin freebies are just the next batch of "Try Harlequin" titles. I heard a while ago that HQ wasn't doing well. Maybe that's why they sold to Harper Collins.It's annoying that now when Amazon cancels a pre-order they don't specify which title they're canceling, just the order number!

Though Harlequin did not make as much profit last year in years past, it was still an extrememly successful company. It's the newspapers which the parent company also owned which were doing so poorly that resulted in the sale of Harlequin from everything I've read about it. And Harper Collins wanted to buy them to obtain their foreign distribution network. I'm still wondering which, if any, lines they will close now that the buyout is complete.

There is talk as you probably know of Entangled being in trouble. I read there are some disgruntled authors and I also read editors leaving left and right due to abuse and others problems have been happening.

I think HQ needs to reorganize their lines and stick with their strongest. Maybe merge a few and start again having stand alones more.

I had to laugh at one of the reponses from the publisher at Absolute Write about how they are such perfectionists. I can't tell you the number of anthologies I have puchased where one of the novellas is missing or the number of times there has been no title page and/or no copyright page in the books of theirs I have purchased. Not to mention the lack of a space after italicized words and other issues with the text. I feel bad for these authors and editors.

I think it was a huge mistake on their part to rebrand the Silhouette lines as Harlequin. But sales of all lines have dropped as Target no longer sells the various series lines (though they do stock HQN and Mira titles) and Wal-mart only carries about one-third of the series lines now. At least where I am.

I read that too and thought she sure likes to listen herself talk. I feel for the authors and editors there is something really wrong going on and I suspect mismanagement is to blame. I think Macmillan needs to clean house before it's too late.

I know many of you use the Nexus 7. I'm debating between this and the new Kindle Voyage. How is the Nexus 7 for reading? I liked the screen, but when I used it about 1-2 years ago the apps for reading, especially the Kindle app, were very slow. Has this improved in the last year or so?
