But no one would have to select it if it was an option. Except if Kobo would decide to delete all other options, that is.

I'd love to have "tap everywhere to page forward, swipe to go back". It's a very rare thing that I want to go a page or two back.

I dislike swiping, but if I have to use it once every 500 or so page turns, I wouldn't mind.

There are lots of settings/options they could offer... if they wanted to...

Then perhaps forcing people to drag could be considered a kaufman-specific solution, but based on the responses here, it appears that accidentally tapping backwards when you mean to tap forwards, is not a kaufman-specific issue.

I would be very happy if the tap to go backwards was moved to the top of the display and tap to go forwards was the rest of the display. I would be most happy if this was an option so that people wouldn't blame me if they didn't like it.

Absolutely. There could be a huge number of options. I imagine that Kobo developers understand that, and may even want to do this kind of thing, but providing alternatives to things that may not be considered "broken" doesn't seem to be happening right now.

(I sure would like the broken bits fixed <sigh>)

Now it's "tap header area to open top menu, select brightness, change setting, close" - how was it done before? It was always that way on the Aura.

I'd be happy if tapping in the far right corner never went backwards. After updating the Mini last night it seemed slightly better, only 6 times in 50 pages
And only one page skip of three pages.

Only question is: What do they consider broken?

They changed the layout of the homescreen a gazillion times, removed perfectly working features, changed the UI and symbols used, shifted this and that menu from here to there - maybe I'm a bit naive but I can't imagine that it's so hard to offer a few more tap zone choices.

I was hoping that the Aura would have (or get) more tap zone options since it's marketed as a premium ereader for people that read a lot and... well, instead of that I can play a game of Solitaire (and though I like it, I would have prefered tap zone options ).

For me, that's the one thing that makes my Kobos a bit uncomfortable to use.

Do people really change their brightness to different levels that often? I have mine set to about 25%, and I just use the button to turn it on or off. I don't think I have ever changed it to a different level.

I am aware of that. The problem is the number of taps it takes to bring up the bar to begin with....

I actually change the brightness quite often. When reading in bed (in full darkness) I need to turn down the light after awhile. And then a bit more.

When playing Solitaire I need brighter light, when reading manga or PDF as well.

In low light situations I need more light than in absolute darkness.

I adjust my brightness setting at least 3 times a day.

That's two taps: header area, brightness

How many where there before?

It was: tap center of screen, bottom footer comes up with a brightness slider control.

Ah, I see.

Well... I guess Kobo likes extra taps/removing easy access options. There used to be a firmware version where you had some options in the dictionary pop-up. I never understood why they changed that.

Yep, and it's one of the reasons the Kobo Utilities plugin exists.
