I've just purchased a Kobo Touch online for my mother for a gift from JB Hifi - it was listed for $168.00 but when I added it to the shopping cart the price changed to $151.20 and delivery was free. Seems like a good deal!

It's now listed for $151.20 - I wondered whether this is the new price or if there's a sale at the moment.

My local JB has 2 covers - both are black leather book style covers with the "Kobo" name embossed on them. One has a light and they both have 4 bits of elastic to hold the Kobo in place. They both claim to be for the Touch but as they were both sealed I was unable to really examine them. There was a little hole to feel (and smell!) the real leather. From what I could see they appear to be well made cases but personally I remain unconvinced about whether I like the elastic bits.

I'm having a bit of a mind blank with the price - I think they were $29.99 and $39.00 (for the light) but I could be wrong.

EDIT: I went back again and checked the prices - they were $39.99 and $49.99 for the case with the light! A bit on the expensive side I think.

Not a bad price for the Kobo Touch ($151). JB's sites are strange with their main site (jbhifi.com.au) showing the old price and their online domain (jbhifionline.com.au) the discounted. Either way I'd be pushing for this price if I ever bought one (sale or not).

@HarleyB: Is it this one? http://www.chapters.indigo.ca/ereadi...4574-item.html

Curious about the one with light though. Haven't seen any official Kobo Touch covers with a light.

Had another play of it at JB Ballarat yesterday. I asked a staff member (when he finished trying to sell overpriced 3G dongles to a family who wasn't internet savvy hehehe). I asked what colours they had. He looked at me blankly before asking me 'What other colours are there'. After telling him he replied 'we only have the black display model'. I then asked about cases, again he had to think before saying, 'We have a case for the Sony r-reader would that do?'

I just hope they are better stocked next week when I want to buy one. I hate to travel to Melbourne to get one (with case)

I just realised that the only ones I have seen in store and on the web page are black as well. As my original and Touch Kobos are both black I hadn't really thought about it.
When Borders had them they mainly had the white ones on display.

Forgot to mention, the other day when I saw them at Officeworks, I asked if they had the white/blue, and they said they were only stocking black. Maybe they're all only stocking black for now? I reeeeally want to see the blue one in real life. It looks so pretty in pictures

Tried to have a play with the one on display at Officeworks yesterday (yes, I was at OW twice in a week... tablet issues!), but the alarm in the cord/holder thing went off... oops! So pretty though!

I picked up my second Touch today from JB Hifi. Something happened to my original Kobo which resulted in a broken screen.
I claimed on my home insurance and for the $50 excess had it replaced with another Touch. I was considering the Sony PRS T1 but I decided to stick with what I knew.

For anyone planning to get one soon JB Hifi have them on special online at $151.20 and when I asked my local store to match that price I got a lovely smile and the price was reduced to $150.

The only problem is going to be telling them apart?

Cheers. I'm still interested about the one with a light. I'm in need of a book light but as I said haven't seen any official kobo cases with a light?

I can't find a picture anywhere of the case with the light. Not sure if you saw my edit above but the price for the case with the light was $49.99.
I thought it was well designed and it appeared well made but I thought it was a bit on the expensive side at virtually $50 - you may think differently of course!
The light is on a flexible arm that when not in use folds down the centre of the case (along the spine of the "book") this means that the case is about 1 cm wider than normal to fit the light in.

@HarleyB & viviana: Cheers. Hmmm.. Case looks big with regards to the size of the Kobo. I'm also not a fan of those elastic strap style, though I see the light version has a tray style bottom holder. I'd be curious what the light is like. It is a little much, but considering a good book light is anywhere from $15-30 and your getting it with the case too.. though on the flipside I don't know that I need to be carrying the light around everywhere.

Edit: for what it matters I think the cases are Werx cases (which have been mentioned before in the case thread). The light model strikes me as though it would fit the normal Kobo wifi too.
