It does not say that you need to get a card before a certain date; Sept.30 limit refers to free classic e-books only. Somebody has already said that they may get their pennies from Chase for providing new customers AND Sony gets a lot of info about these new book loving customers, isn't that good for marketing? And they may just ignore all those trying to get what they were promised.

If you click the tiny "1" superscript at the top of the page, you'll see that the card must be used to buy the Reader by 9/30/07. I doubt that you can apply for the card now and be eligible.

Doesn't hurt to call and ask them, though.

where did you guys see the reader on the sony reward site? Looks like it's not there anymore...

I can't find it from the search and it's not under the Gospel music section either...

Hi, Im new to this board and wanted to share my experience with the credit offer and the reader.

After reading this thread I set up a sony rewards account on October 11 and then proceeded to sign up for a credit card using this website:

Yesterday I received my new sony rewards credit card from chase. I contacted Chase to activate the card, did a balance transfer, then inquired about the sony reader. I was transfered by Chase to Sony Rewards. I said, "I signed up for a sony rewards card to get the discounted Sony Reader, how do i redeem it." The gentlemen said "We can redeem it right now." He told me the total was 59.49 and that i should receive the reader in the mail in a week. I have a confirmation number, and checked my sony rewards site to verify that the reader has been redeemed. I will post back when i receive the reader. Perhaps this will prove useful to others.

Thanks for all your great help on this thread so far. Can someone refer me to threads which explain how i can obtain free copies of classic works in the appropriate format? i know i know...use the search function

You must sign in to see it. I just did a small experiment and searched for "reader" without signing in; did not find PRS.

Did the same search after signing in - PRS shows up (looks like it is 505) and there is a note in red "temporarily out of stock".

I just got off the phone to Sony Rewards. They are still out of stock of the 500. In the past (Oct10), I called and they said that people who were eligible for the promotion would receive the new 505 when it was in stock aorund Nov 3 - Nov 10. I called today and they told me that there has been some further updates from National and that people now would receive the 500 instead. They indicated 2 more weeks for the 500 to be back in. I would have liked a 505 but to be honest I won't complain too much if I get a 500 instead

Nice to see them removed the 500 from the website. I kept thinking people are ordering them.

And now she tried to get the reader from the sony rewards site, but it only shows the new reader without any discount when it is added to the shopping cart. Does it mean she is not eligible for the promotion or it is better to give sony rewards a call?

The only one that is eligible is the black one (PRS_500). They made a mistake a few weeks ago and put it one the web site and it came up the correct price of $59. Then a week ago they did it again it it didn't come up right, and also the silver PRS-505 don't either. Basically they are totally messed up.

I would open a ticket with Sony Rewards so you have it in case there is any problems.

I have a ticket. I'm going to call them tomorrow and if it's not sorted, ask to speak to a manager. I was charge full price because of the mistake on their end for adding the 500 when it wasn't available. I've heard nothing back in 3 or 4 days since opening the ticket.

I talked to sony rewards yesterday about my order, and they said they have approximately 230 sony 500's that are either in stock, or being sorted out for shipping as per the deal. I was told it could take as long as 6 weeks for me to get the reader, but that I was in the group of 200 or so. I did not attempt to redeem the reader on the website, but rather, by talking to sony rewards. everyone was really helpful, and they knew exactly what i was talking about.

hamh--I second the motion to call sony rewards and talk to them about the deal.

Also the offer is STILL ON
Your spouse can sign up for the offer as long as the application is BEFORE the end of October. My wife applied about 10 days ago and received an email indicating she was eligible. She got the card yesterday and signed up the same day. I called Sony Rewards today and was told she was eligible
