If I had the energy I would be doing a happy dance now. The branch has been cut off. My father also cut a couple of other branches off that would become a nuisance in the near future. By the sounds that are coming from the courtyard he's still busy cutting things off.

Just 1.5 hours and then I can take a nice, quiet nap.

My public library. Love it to death for stuff (although no Kindle direct support for e-book lending), but the on-line search is unbelievably slow. It regularly takes a minute or so to do a simple search. Like, say "Faulkner". It might actually be faster to go through a physical card catalogue and walk to the location to see if it's in.

It wouldn't surprise me if I can't sleep tonight because I'm missing the banging sound and because the rain sounds different because a lot of branches were cut off. The perfect excuse to have some Baileys earlier tonight

Lousy iTunes. Now that I've upgraded both iTunes and my iTouch OS I can't get it to sync anymore. Everything worked okay in the upgrade. All the content is there. The applications. The music. The movies. But, when I try to remove a couple of movies to put a couple of seasonal selections in and then apply it. It says it's going through the motions of the sync, but it only takes about fifteen seconds before it says it's done and I can disconnect the device. Look on the iTouch and there's no changes to the content at all.

Diagnostics passes all the tests. This is really annoying.

My roommate. I work night shift, and she insists on being as noisy as possible. We share a room and she constantly is coming in after her class and saying "wake up, wake up!" even when she knows I'm meant to be sleeping. She can't stand to be by herself so it's slamming doors, banging pots and pans, until I wake up, and then she gets upset when I'm angry.

Just got back from the doctor again. I still had problems with my ear, occasionally still painful but also tinnitus and I still couldn't hear properly. It was blocked and she used a syringe and some warm water to clean it. I could immediately hear better, it more painful now but I hope the drops now work better and that the tinnitus will also go. If it still isn't better in a week I have to go back again.

You've got my sympathies -- I had a sudden and severe ear infection about 15 years ago that was very difficult to clear up. I made weekly visits to the ear doctor for months, but when it was finally cleared up my eardrum was, well, just gone. I had surgery on it twice to try and reconstruct it, but neither one took and I just resigned myself to living with very poor hearing on that side and constant tinnitus. Then a couple of years ago my ear doctor referred me over to a colleague who is very skilled at ear surgeries. I decided to try it one more time -- and third time's the charm! I still have a small opening in the eardrum, but my hearing is SO much better now that it feels miraculous. I still have tinnitus, but most of the time I'm able to just not focus on it. Good luck getting your ear cleared up all the way -- I'm sending positive vibes to you!

Ear problems are a real drag. I'm sorry you have to experience them. I used to have lots of ear aches when I was little, but they stopped when I reached my teens.

These days I can't hear much at all unless I wear my hearing aids, but that's due to loud music, gun fire, motorcycles, etc. I really didn't take care of my ears when I was younger, and today I pay the penalty for that. I do confess that there are times I find being deaf a bit of a blessing, but in the long run, I'd prefer to hear perfectly. I'm afraid that the next generation is going to be a rather deaf one. Everyone with earphones plugged in for hours on end... Not good. Loud noises don't have to be bad for one's hearing, but PROLONGED loud sounds are! Good luck with your ears!

When the walkman came out, I had one, and also had a job that let me wear it for hours on end. My wife keeps telling me about a squeak or squeal while driving the car. I can't hear it. I had better let a young mechanic take it for a drive and give it to an old mechanic to fix.
