I have put up pictures of my pw3 in another thread, it definitely has the serial port.

It looks just like the pw2 in the serial jailbreak thread.

Well it might be in the thread's 1919 posts somewhere, but that's contrary to the instructions in step zero of the first post.

Good, I've left mine on 5.8.7 and it seems to have some different menu options to my partners (now) 5.8.9.2. I'd be keen to upgrade but only now I know the JB survives.

Your reading skills and remembering what you read are excellent. I can't say for everywhere but at the moment no one here is working on a new jailbreak.
The ones with the massive skills have either left the site, are at school (grad I believe), or are very sick.
We need new people.

On a positive not elets hope that Lab126 has some loophole that makesit easy to jailbreak. Like what happened with 5.6.5

I have never had that experience. The glue is very much reusable and the bezel does not deform as it is removed.

Your experience might have something to do with how you take them apart.
Do wear boxing gloves when you work on them?


All devices, from K4 to 8th generation (except the Oasis) use the same serial port connector and connector pin out.
The only change is its physical location on the board and in the case of some K4 devices, the connector is already mounted.

That last question reads as if you haven't looked.
I wrote up the PW-3 on its official release date.

Plus the knowledge that all touchscreen devices (except the Oasis) use the same connector pad pin-out should let you translate those images to the directions and pictures written for a different touchscreen model.

Yes, that is the thread that starts out with the step-by-step directions to recover the initial factory image - as used in this jailbreak procedure.
Note: Lab126 made changes so that the described procedure no longer works.
But for the Kindle Trivia nuts out there, that is how this jb process research began.

Amazon slipped in their shipping computations, my PW-3 arrived the day before it was released.

Does any of the packages included in these instructions edit the firewall?

Jailbreak, Hotfix, KUAL?

I'm seeing some interesting things, and I don't have an un-jailbroken device any more to test this with. So I wondered what the iptables stuff looked like on that.

Because I have found a vulnerable program, but if it's only vulnerable because of the jailbreak, it doesn't help for future releases.

No.

The only thing, a KUAL extension, that modifies the firewall rules is the "BBB Firewall" (Block Big Brother).
Note: Fairly recently an addition to Amazon's network was found, but neither I nor anyone else has updated BBB.

One exception to the above:
NiLuJe might make a single rule addition when USBnetworking comes up with access via Wifi is enabled.
He would almost have to, because ssh/telnet incoming is normally blocked.

Or atleast some way like a factory downgrade which we were using till now could be dug out by someone so that a jailbreak for kindle fw 6 may be easily done. We cannot keep Lab126 in such a high position.

Making 'bugs' is human. I'm pretty sure that in the near future people with even 5.9 or 6(future updates) can jailbreak easily.

No, not an e-ink kindle but a tablet.
