You also need oven mitts for driving after being away from the car for a while, and you learn to stand up before you flush the toilet to avoid hot water burns.......

But hnoto has a point........we only have about 4 months of really uncomfortable hot weather. Then, when you all are freezing your tushies, we just have to deal with the snowbirds.

DGma, we had the snowbirds in South Florida, too. I didn't mind them so much until a car with 4 "little blue haired ladies" (my younger brothers terminology, not mine ) crossed 3 lanes of traffic in front of us to make a left turn into the mall parking lot, when the light turned green at the intersection where we were all waiting our turn to go. Thankfully we had learned to hesitate before pulling out or we would have broadsided them (no pun intended).

Aaaahhhhhhh. The first true Summer's eve we have had this year. It's warm, low 80s, and twilight, a golden red transformation, is going on forever...

I wish I was 10 again, playing tag, hide-n-seek, running around on those mysterious, important missions that we had back then.

Enough of this internet stuff. Time to go play.

We've had a wonderful extended Spring, haven't we? Until now we haven't been to 110F yet - woohoo. AND barely too many days past 100F. I've had to teach my N. Ireland husband a few tricks of the trade:
*drive around for a few extra minutes if a shaded parking space might be soon available.
*DO NOT leave your sunglasses (especially metal ones) on the dash - unless you would like to be branded.
*Water, sunblock and anti-perspirant are your best friends.
*Do not forget you let the dogs out to piddle.
*You can cool off in a 88F pool!

They are the worst.

I've asked my daughter to euthanize me before I get to the "Dammit I'm old and am entitled" stage.

I see it in restaurants, stores, and in traffic.

That was a daily occurance when we lived in Las Vegas - only it was crossing from the far left lane across 5 lanes to make an exit. Not "blue hairs", but "I don't give a damn" people.

Nice, clear day today (if cool 21C/70F), but we're expecting 26C/79F on Wednesday, which will be nice (or, hopefully, bloody bewdiful!).

Cheers,
Marc

currently 27° and clear skies. after much rain and gloom, sun and high temperatures announced for the entire week...

during which i will be stuck working in a client's office, with no chance to enjoy it. i swear, i think the weather does this to me deliberately.
