Owww! make sure you have that clavicle stretched well. I came off a horse and broke mine years ago with an overlapping heal joint. it took about 15 years to get used to sleeping on my side.

No such luck here. 1:30 in the am there are shooting those buggers off. They come up from the city and have no regard for the residents (all 3 of us) or the wildlife here in the woods.

See, I was very careful to ask if you celebrated, not if you had.

I think Cinco de Mayo spread from the southwest, where the Mexican population is huge. I don't know that many Mexicans that live on the east coast. I think we celebrate Cinco de Mayo, just like we adopted St. Paddy's day and any other festival that included booze.

I remember the Cinco de Mayo celebrations in So.Cal when I lived there back in the late 60's. They really did it up right in L.A.!

I've noticed that many different cultures 'adopt' various holidays, giving them slightly different meanings. Japan celebrates 'Thanksgiving' but for workers giving thanks to their employers. Thailand celebrates 'Mother's Day' but as the Queen's day, etc.

I don't know how anyone can think a day to celebrate the margarita is ludicrous. I can't think of a better reason to celebrate!

I don't know which Oil of Olay you used, but I used it when I was in HS and broke out with a rash over my entire face. I'll never forget how uncomfortable it was and how I had to keep cocoa butter or Vaseline on my face because it was basically, one layer of scar tissue.

Birmingham has a large Mexican population. They are well integrated and much appreciated. Like KK said, Cinco de Mayo is no big deal to them, but they happily celebrate the margarita along with everyone else. Just like Coca Cola inventing Christmas and Hallmark inventing Valentine's Day, Corona beer invented Cinco de Mayo. Bravo!!!

Sol Raven, is the Ft Lauderdale beach the biggest fireworks display? Or does one of the smaller beaches go all-out and have a bigger display? We want to catch the shuttle at the Galleria in order to avoid the parking nightmare that we expect the beach parking to be. Assuming, of course, these rainstorms blow away before tonight.

Err...... 'scuse me.... Perhaps there is a bit of a historical (hysterical) misunderstanding going on.....

Cinco de Mayo is observed to commemorate the Mexican army's victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguín. Which actually makes almost as little sense as celebrating the margarita... no disrespect to the margarita intended.
It just wasn't that important a battle in the overall scheme of things going on in Mexico in those days, though it was a morale boost to the Mexican army and the Mexican people. But in less than a year, the French completely overran Mexico, deposed it's ruler and took possession.

Might as well celebrate a margarita...

That's funny, when you typed Sol Raven with the space because I was just thinking of how much I like Sol beer when you typed Corona.

As for fireworks, I really don't know who has the biggest. I've only lived here 5 years and have always had a decent show from my sofa. Now Gulfstream has them so my front sofa seat just got better!
