Right now the Google Play Store is showing 1 movie rental for $1.49. You never know with these deals if Google is being selective or if it is for everybody, but might be worth checking out.

Their book deals still stink, IMHO. Last edited by GtrsRGr8; 06-15-2017 at 03:38 PM. |

Cool. Glad it worked for you. If you have trouble using it after you add it to your account just go to your Google Play account settings on and click on 'redeem'. I often save these for later and they don't always automatically apply when I select a movie.

FREE theWord Bible Software
I hope that this is the correct thread for this sort of thing. I still haven't figured out the MobileRead search function! I did scan posts on the "Christian Interest" thread and couldn't find any similar item there. If this is the wrong place, would someone let me know, and I will move it promptly after I see your message!
DiscountBible.com offers their theWord [sic] Bible Software, as a free download. This is actually software, and not a web-based Bible program such as, for example, Olive Tree is. I don't know how good the program is, yet. I haven't had the opportunity to check ratings or reviews on the Web for it. I did download it for myself, and want to take it on a test drive one of these days. Probably it's pretty decent, though, because DiscountBible.com has some some more advanced (and, most assuredly, not free) software that I'm sure that they hope that folks will upgrade to, once they experience theWord. Unlike a slew of other Bible software that have a free version, this one does not offer any free books (additional to what are pre-installed on the program) that I could find. That is, except for Martin Luther's commentary on Galatians and it, oddly enough, is in the ePub format, which makes me wonder if a person even can run it on theWord. This is as good a place as any to check the in's and out's of this freebie. Oh, I forgot to mention: DiscountBible does require that you register in order to get the freebie. If you're like me and already have a stuffed inbox already, what with all of the advertisements, princes from Nigeria wanting to send you a million dollars, ad nauseam, you will be happy to know that it looks like you can opt out of their newsletters by simply not putting a tic in a box for it on a webpage in the registration process. Heads up Naxos fans
Naxos has multiple playlists available on several subscription music services: Spotify, Apple Music, Napster, and Deezer. Spotify has 72 playlists available for streaming and offline listening. Since I don't have subscriptions to the other music services, I have no idea how many playlists they have. Some examples include Best of Classical, Naxos American Classics, Classical Roadtrip, Classical Music at the Movies, Classical Music for Reading, Baroque Music for Studying, Classical Music for Twilight, Essential Waltzes, Best of Opera, Holidays Around the World, etc. |

I am taking the title of this thread very literally, and placing this collection of digital journals (academic or academically-inclined magazines) on this thread.
The Biblical Archaeology Society, which is best known, I'm sure, for its flagship publication Biblical Archaeology Review, is having a Summer Blowout Sale. BAS' sales are rather infrequent, but when they have one it is usually a good one. Such is the case with this sale. I won't list everything in the sale--for one reason, not everything qualifies for inclusion on this thread--but I do want to highlight the $38.97 BAR archive DVD from of all issues from 1975-2012. With BAR being a bi-monthly publication the entire time, I'm all but certain, that averages out to just a little over $1 per issue! The blurb for this item is truly helpful: Get instant, easy access to more than 4,100 BAR articles and 13,000 breathtaking photos, maps, drawings and charts—220 issues in all! The brand new format on this cross-platform DVD allows for easier printing, better searching and more accessible images. You’ll soon be enjoying BAR’s special features, news stories, columns and trivia! Head over to this webpage to see all that's in the sale. When they say that it is a summer sale, they really mean a summer sale--it lasts until August 31, 2017. Last edited by GtrsRGr8; 06-20-2017 at 10:43 PM. |

Permit me to point out that Olive Tree is "actually software", too. I have the Olive Tree app installed on my iPad, and very good it is, too.
