It was Target. I will probably try to not breast feed in public but if I do, I will use a towel to cover the baby. I might not be thrilled with it but the US was founded by people so Anal about their religious rules that they were booted from the UK and a few other places. We are a nation of prudes. I won't let my child go hungry but I will accept that the social norms make people uncomfortable and try to take that into consideration.

Skim Milk and OJ with my breakfast this morning. I had a nice, but short, visit with my cousin who flew into town for some meetings.

I don't even know where to start, so I won't. Except to say -- do what's right for you and the baby, and the h*** with anyone who is so twisted and sick they have a problem with it.

Morning OJ. Fresh squeezed. The blood oranges are all gone, these are back to typical, size 108, California Navels. Still early season, so they're not particularly sweet or flavourful, but minimally acceptable. But they were on sale at the IGA, and they're really all that's available right now, and still way better than boxed or frozen.

I find something deeply comforting about a woman breastfeeding (and yes, I was breastfed ). Just ignore those of narrow mind.

I applaud you! Not only are you doing your best for your child, you are also considering the feelings of those around you. My son who is 8 now was breast fed, and we had to deal with the less then perfectly private feedings. Its not that hard to do in a "passable" way. A little planning prevents most of the issues (child gets on a healthy feeding schedule and you just arrange to be home/etc for feeding time.) so its not anywhere near the issue it could be.

So long as your child's health comes first, its a good thing to consider the feelings of others.

+1 for breastfeeding. I had a big "diaper-towel" with me all the time, and would put it on my shoulder so it covered my breast. Plus the new breastfeeding bras are very, very good. Never had any problem, nor comment from anyone.
We even pumped my milk (I feel for cows ) for superman to be able to feed them, but they always refused the bottle from him and rather waited for me to be back home lol! And then, from the day I tried the bottle, they took it without any problems from me, the little rascals . 6 months old babies are very, very intelligent !

Have you been following the Target Supermarket 'Feed-Ins' being staged all over the country? Or was it Walmart? My son's mother used to feed him where ever and when ever, and never encountered and problems. She was a member of the 'La Leche League,' which helps women deal with all that feeding outside the house involves. Is that available in your area? I think that this sort of closeness between mother and child is the very, very best thing that could happen to a baby, and really gets them off to a wonderful start in life. Women in Third World countries breast feed all the time, and the rate of mental illness in those areas doesn't even come close to what we experience in the West. And they don't even bother with trying to be discreet and cover themselves while the baby feeds. No need, really. There is nothing lascivious about a baby feeding... except to some really 'off' people...

But in my cup right now is Lapsang Souchong tea from McNultey's Tea and Coffee... Extra smokey!

I breast fed both of mine and was even an active duty soldier for the first! La Leche still exists, and was almost a lifesaver for my first; I was overseas and did not have the help and assistance of older female friends and relatives. at around day 5 out of the hospital my milk impacted and I was one miserable motorscooter. if it had not been for my "coach" I don't know what I would have done!

Good morning, all! A bright beautiful morning but they promise snow this afternoon... Gotta hurry up with breakfast and get in a quick ride before the roads get slick! Big mug of unbranded Keemun tea tea along side a bowl of rice, crab (it's the season!) and tsukemono, and I'm outta here!

There was a woman in my son's mother's group who was still breast feeding her four year old... The kid would be off playing with her friends, feel hungry, run back and pull up Mommy's shirt for a quick feed... I thought that was a bit long to be breast feeding but she believed that the children should naturally wean themselves.

We Americans really can be so remarkably prudish, especially when compared with the rest of the world. I still remember the "Jane Russell" bra advertisements where she would model the bras... worn OVER her sweater. It's a sad commentary on a culture when the first husband and wife couple to be seen sharing the same bed on American TV had to be Fred and Wilma Flintstone! Here in Japan, elementary school kids all share the same locker rooms for swimming. There is no giggling or embarrassment when you grow up with nudity.

Stressful day. My boss just assigned me more hours of work in the next six weeks than either he or I think can be accomplished. I won't get it all done, but I really need to buckle down and do better at it. Sigh. Means less time here.

To each their own but I don't think a nursing four year old is healthy. I am aiming for 6 months minimum one year maximum.

I'll tell you what... It didn't anything really nice for her figure...
I wonder about the quality though... I doubt that it would change. Diet has more to do with that.

If my memory serves me, most of the mothers in my ex's circle let 'teething' be the stopping point if other factors didn't intervene. None would undergo that kind of pain!
