Why invite someone to interview who has little experience if your really looking for someone with 10+ years experience?!

So -
1. We have an idiot employee who insisted on putting his PC inside a closed cabinet with no air circulation - which built up heat & fried the hard drive.
2. Our PC shop miraculously recovered an image off the hard drive and installed it on a new PC.
3. Idiot employee insisted on returning new PC to cabinet - and went to boss to get approval to purchase cabinet ventilation fans.
4. Boss (on one of his semi-regular thrift rants) refused to authorize $40 for fans & insisted the PC go onto the counter top.
5. Idiot employee throws hissy fit at me.
6. Idiot employee then places PC on counter top as far away from the network cable inlet as possible and stretches/yanks on cord to reach the PC.
7. I walk by and see that the PC is being pulled to the side by the tension on the network cable, and move the PC to get some slack in the cable.
8. Idiot employee throws new hissy fit at me - he can't get online.
9. We start performing network diagnostics - with our PC shop tech (charging by the hour) - and spend the entire morning swapping out network cards, replacing cable connectors, etc.

[Have you guessed what happened yet?]

10. Idiot employee - in his hissy fit - has apparently broken wires inside the network cable during the PC relocation process - but it wasn't his fault b/c he was ordered to put the PC onto the counter top by the boss. The cord wasn't long enough. When empty space immediately adjacent to the cable inlet was pointed out to him, he replied "But the PC looks so much better over there."
11. PC shop guys are returning this afternoon to run new cable.
12. Boss saved $40 by not buying fans.
13. Total costs for this little fiasco? It's still anyone's guess.

And the best part?

Sooner or later this will all be my fault.

[If today ever ends I'm going home, play with the kitten, and drink every Guinness in the frig.]
[Tomorrow I'll be calculating how much vacation time I have to use .]
[If things get really ugly (when the final bill comes from the PC shop) I'll be matching my retirement fund amounts against the actuarial tables to see if I can retire yet.]

Today he told me he wanted to wait another month before applying because he thinks he has more chance of getting one. The problem is that he's been saying he'll apply next month for the past three months. So I proposed a comprise; he'll ask the bank when he can apply for a credit card for our business account. He agreed and promised to go to the bank on Monday. It wouldn't surprise me if he can apply for it immediately, since we now have a debit card machine and thus a regular income on that account.

However, chances are that he changes his mind so I'm looking into getting Amazon gift cards by other means.

I wish you could get pre-paid credit cards in the Netherlands!
Your best bet is to get a card with a very small limit, like one or two hundred euros, and keep it paid off. Then use that for all internet purchases. That way if it gets compromised, you can't get hurt too badly.

I don't make enough money to get a credit card. My father always lowers the limit to €500 and we use it for internet purchases and holiday bookings only.

Visa has a prepaid credit card but it's relatively expensive and I've already read several complaints that a lot of online stores don't accept it. I wish banks would offer prepaid cards, I would think they are much safer for both customer and bank.

Hoping that we can get a CC soon, otherwise I have to see if I can get a gift card any other way.

Do you really need a credit card?

I have an account with a debit card that I only use for internet purchases. I never keep more than $100 in it unless I'll be making a purchase. Then I'll transfer the amount for the purchase from my "real" account.

The worst that'll happen is that I'll loose $100.

AFAIK you can't use Dutch debit cards as credit cards. I think all debit cards are Maestro here (at least both of mine are), Visa and MasterCard are only available as CCs.

In the Netherlands we have a system called iDeal to pay online purchases. Unfortunately, it only works in this country, although I've heard that they want to make it an European system.

For now all I can do is wait and see the bank tells my father on Monday, as I said it wouldn't surprise me if he can apply for one there and then. If not it might just be a good excuse to book another trip to the UK for some time this summer .

If you don't want something on your burger, tell us. Don't expect my employees to read your mind. Don't say you want to add mayo, but not say you don't want the mustard and ketchup, and then complain because it has all three.

Do NOT order a cheeseburger plain, then complain that it has cheese. What part of 'double cheeseburger' was too difficult to understand? It's in the frickin name!

Also, do not order an item and expect me to know you want one for every member of your family without telling me. How should I know you have three kids and a husband stashed away? If you say you want 'a deluxe breakfast' then you get "A" deluxe breakfast, not 5, unless you specify a number. And then have the sense that when your total is less than $7 to know that your order ISN'T right and say something. Don't expect me to fix YOUR mixtake for free after the fact.
