Well, after at least five warnings even our patience is exhausted.

In about an hour, I will go through and add Koland's latest suggestions.

At the risk of being banned I have to suggest that there is something called "free speech".

Is there any hope for the idea that we could somehow have a separate thread for religious tracts of all kinds?

Frankly most of these strike me a thinly disguised propaganda and all should have a "health warning" suggesting that continued use can permanently warp the reader's viewpoint.

These "Christian"-themed books are definitely not "free" of an agenda....

I'm all about free speech, and even though I agree with your belief that some of these books are basically thinly veiled propaganda, that have as much right to be in this thread as any other book that you might find more enjoyable.

Suggesting they not be here is no better than suggesting that fantasy books or erotica ought not be allowed as they typically don't qualify as high-quality literature.

I'd rather have a thread that includes everyone than one that excludes anyone. If you, or anyone else, chooses to exclude themselves due to content, then so be it.

If it's "Free Speech" it has to be free all around. No separate threads, no "health warnings"(everyone has an agenda). They are clearly tagged by the posters, so it's easy to avoid downloaded them.

That's all I'm going to say about it as this thread is about "Free and Cheap Books" and should stay on that topic.

OK, I was really suggesting that the thread was becoming too hard to assimilate. Perhaps each section on the first post would be better as a new and separate thread.

I have just added Koland's latests suggestions. I've also decided that going forward I will check the status of the free section every Monday. I'll also make sure to have new suggestions added by every Monday, but may add them sooner than that.

As to religious books -- I'm not seperating them, or any other books, out of this list. This list is open to ANY published books that are free. If it is free, listed on Amazon, and not in the public domain then it gets on the list. It's that simple.

Plus, I've already broke books down into different sections to make them easy to identify. Additionally, when Koland posts new books, she also identifies them as Christian when she knows that is the case, and she provides a detailed description of the books. If you don't want them then don't download them.

Another free one in the controversial category. Also Never Say Never, by Lisa Wingate, is no longer free.

The Apothecary's Daughter, by Julie Klassen, from the Christian publisher Bethany House.

Book Description
Lillian Haswell, brilliant daughter of the local apothecary, yearns for more adventure and experience than life in her father's shop and their small village provides. She also longs to know the truth behind her mother's disappearance, which villagers whisper about but her father refuses to discuss. Opportunity comes when a distant aunt offers to educate her as a lady in London. Exposed to fashionable society and romance--as well as clues about her mother--Lilly is torn when she is summoned back to her ailing father's bedside. Women are forbidden to work as apothecaries, so to save the family legacy, Lilly will have to make it appear as if her father is still making all the diagnoses and decisions. But the suspicious eyes of a scholarly physician and a competing apothecary are upon her. As they vie for village prominence, three men also vie for Lilly's heart.

Would it be possible to mark which books are Topaz as opposed to AZW? I've noticed that a high percentage of the freebies are in the Topaz format which is, at this time, harder to disinfect.

The ones I've picked up on are:
Murder Takes the Cake
All God's Creatures
Once Bitten
Mossy Creek
Lady of Milkweed Manor
The Apothecary's Daughter
Never Say Never
Talk Of The Town

Some of the ones at the top of the list are no longer free.

The Christian publisher Bethany House has another title by Julie Klassen on the freebie list today: Lady of Milkweed Manor

Book Description

As Charlotte drew closer to the looming grey edifice that was to become her temporary home, she could not help but notice the secretive shuttered windows. Then she noticed the milkweeds....

Even a proper vicar's daughter can make a mistake--and now Charlotte Lamb must pay a high price for her fall. To avoid the prying eyes of all who know her, she hides herself away in London's forbidding "Milkweed Manor," a place of mystery and lore, of old secrets and new birth.

But once there, she comes face to face with a suitor from her past--a man who now hides secrets of his own. Both are determined, with God's help, to protect those they love. But neither can imagine the depth of sacrifice that will be required.

Sprinkled with fascinating details about the lives of women in Regency England, Lady of Milkweed Manor is a moving romantic drama about the redemption of past failings and the beauty of sacrificial love.

I don't generally look at the books themselves - I don't like Topaz, in general, but some have been ok on formatting. If it is a really big deal, the way to tell is to download a sample and check it's format. OTOH, I'd just buy the book and if you cant "disinfect" it, just read it on your PC or Kindle hardware.....

You don't get banned for making such suggestions. People get banned for being insulting and attacking others' beliefs and not getting the hint when we ask them not to do so.

As for the Christian books being free, right now these seem to be quite abundant in the pile. Sometimes the Samhain Press books outnumber everything else. It tends to average out over time.

Warning about formatting in Samhain books-if you look at the book description, you will see some funny formatting symbols. These have to be fixed, or it will mess up the catalog conversion in Calibre.
