I second this. As a company it is lousy marketing to give out dates that you then do not meet. We have had discussions here whether they really gave us dates in the past or whether it was just our interpretation. I doubt, however, that anyone disputes the "1st quarter of 2009" and the date GeoffC got for the list of enhancements as valid and promised dates they did not meet.

Plus, I have yet to find out what's so hard about telling one's customers what will be in the next FW. If they aren't done programming yet it's kind of provocative to tell the customers that the next FW will be released soon. And if they are done programming and have started testing there is no way they don't know yet what's in it... (And yes, I know there is always the possibility that if they can't fix it while in testing that something might get pulled at the last second but normally you either give a fixed release date and don't talk about what you might/might not get done until that date or you share the features in the next FW but don't give a fixed date when it'll be done. As they don't say when the FW will be out there must be *some* fixes/features which will definitely be in it, they can always sursprise us with a few more...)

Man, what happened to you France? You used to be cool. Now you don't even make the best wines anymore! You're whole laissez-faire attitude is what keeps you out of the forefront of western society.

What happened to you France, what happened.......

The intersting part is the answer to the "what's in the box ?" question.

The Dahan speaks of two trend. The small cheap E-reader (the opus for bookeen).
And then they goes speaking about wireless, tactile and color. That lead to the "when is that comming" -> "For wireless, end 2009". No more words about tactile though . But looks like bookeen is already working on yet an other device.
Then they goes speaking about color screens -> still horribly slow.

You don't actually need a delete button to delete. Sony showed us that.

Now given Bookeen's history with the Gen3, would you buy yet another device from them?

Sure
I like my Cybook. And being french, it's easier to get support from bookeen than any other company. Getting my reader back in one week was just awsome. I expected it to be more like one month.

While i'm begining to be a bit tired of that mess, it don't change my overall positive opinion of bookeen.

If I have been one of the first to buy one probably not, but as mine is just a few weeks old, definitely yes.

I would only buy a new device from them, if there are at least some different very intensive reviews of the new reader showing that there are ....

- no bugs in the firmware
- no features missing
- all important ebook / Text formats supported
- ...

To sum it up:
I would only buy again from bookeen if its "A perfect eBook reader"

Because I wouldn't expect them to fix any remaining bugs or missing features very fast or at all.

You should never expect that, from any company whatsoever. If the product don't fits you as it is, don't buy it.
