Try this. It should return '100' for true, and '0' otherwise.

I don't know if the plugin can detect changes to composite columns, though.

That I can do. I'll change the code to accept composite columns.

Something strange is happening...
I took advantage of the last two updates and look, the bars do not appear in the option by month, but they do appear in the option by gender genre.

hmmm...am I doing something wrong?

Neither with my composite column nor with a newly created one from the options do books appear in the reading goals.
select book in book list --> add to reading goal --> four digits year --> edit reading goal = empty, but year 2023 is visible
If I add a book read in 2022 reading goal is still empty but 2022 is visible too.

Additionally if I try to add a custom challenge I get this error

I'm going to need some more info to help you.
Please follow these steps:

1) Restart calibre in debug mode (Ctrl+Shift+R)
2) Open the 'Edit reading goal' dialog and then close it
3) Select some books and add them using the main menu option: 'Add to reading goal'
4) What message did you get?
5) Now, select the same books and click in 'Remove from reading goal'
6) What message did you get?
7) Open the 'Statistics' dialog
8) Close calibre
9) The debug log will open. Copy its contents and post here.

Scratch that. Just found the bug.
I've done a refactor for this last release and ended up breaking the 'Allow other years' option, when the database is completely empty.

That's also fixed. It had a problem with empty databases as well.

FWIW, for other Action Chains users, I found it helpful to make a 'Mark as Rereading' chain that:

- Sets percentread to 0
- Clears the lastread date
- (Optional) Adds the book to the to-be-read reading list.
- Adds the book to this year's reading goal.

I do something similar... for adding a new reading date to goodreads
