so now we know why we're (probably) done with Elipsa updates.

on the upside, they're not giving up on stylus support, so hopefully we'll be getting more updates now for those features.

Well, I'm going to wait for a while this time and read the reviews of the brave pioneers here.

I'm so sick of the "audiobooks aren't real books" carry-on. We've done it to death here. People who are still proud of their text decoding ability need to grow up.
You appear to lack a basic grasp of both history and the point I was making. And seem angry in doing so. The Internet!

Try reading one of the three books on this subject I cited unless youre proud of your ignorance. Or try to form an actual attempt at a rebuttal. You know, the basics of argumentation.

Bank has been getting lessons from a cat.

I've got too many ereaders already. The Sage sounds interesting and I'd only be interested in a Libra 2 if my Libra broke. I still have an original H2O with the SD card slot as well as 3 x Kindles, Sony PRS-350 and a Likebook Mars after giving away three ereaders to grandchildren.

I just bought a Libra last month when it went on sale for $149. My only regret is that had I known about these new releases, I would have waited a bit for the current Libra to go down to $120 if that is even possible hahaha.

Don't forget eBooks aren't real books because their are not printed on paper. That is something I am sick of. eBooks are just as real as audiobooks and pBooks.

The reason ebooks aren’t real books is because they’re virtual, i.e., not physical. That’s why you only get a license for an ebook as opposed to owning a real book and that’s a legitimate and serious distinction which occupies much attention here.

Words can have more than one meaning. “Fake” is not the only antonym for “real.”

I get that listening to an audiobook is not exactly the same as reading it yourself but to me they're no different to reading a book in school class or getting a story read by your parents when you were a child. Heck, when I had a damaged cornea, my wife read books to me and I'll fight anyone telling me it's "not real".

Fucking snobs and their superiority complex.

By the way, still no mention of LCP / Care DRM. Kobo really doesn't care about European libraries

Oral cultures have not "given way" to literacy, unless you mean that Western expansionist empires did their level best to commit genocide on indigenous cultures that have a strong oral tradition.

Oral culture - history, storytelling, Dreamtime - is very much alive and well in many of the cultures in my country, despite the strenuous attempts of my ancestors to wipe it out.

I'm not bashing audiobooks — I just don't (personally) equate them with reading. Probably because, when I grew up, audiobooks didn't exist — or, if they did they were extremely rare. I may take a look at the books (and authors) you mentioned. Thanks.

Can't quite understand the anger in your response. In context mezzanine said he/she enjoyed audiobooks, but felt listening to them was different than reading. Why would that statement be controversial?

Not if you don't have a device necessary to "reveal" them.

And that's different from needing a printer & paper to 'reveal' your pbook to you how, exactly? Except that you need only one such device to 'be' a potentially unlimited number of different books.
