Hello everyone,
I just want to comment on native PDF managing, palm rejection and export is really sub par: - PDF exporting exports your PDF notes like pdf comments, and this deteroriates note quality (brush thickness gets lost, and I defaults to a much thick, constant thickness line which is unreadable). - Evernote exporting is just broken, it creates a note without images, with some source code lines. So I started fiddling around with some note taking apps. What I found is If you guys want to know the full potential of the Wacom pen and layer on the Mimas (and possibly other similar devices like the boox note), you should try the Squid app, it is feature packed: - Supports Handwritten Notes, templates, PDF annotation, and whatever combination and stacking of those features in a single notebook - Distinguishes between pen input and touch input, this is huge. You can set the settings to pretty much ignore the touch layer (just zooming and pan, which can also be locked) - Pen pressure sensitivity - Supports custom function the side button of the pen (for the time being I don't know if side button is recognized as being the same as the eraser). - Supports some hovering functions (which Boyue OS doesn't take advantage of at all): if you hover over a tool its name shows up. - Full color support (you can select RGB custom colors, so you will know what color are you scribbling in). Caveats: - latency, which can be improved using A2 mode and long pressing the app icon in Boyue OS. - full features require a subscription around $1 a month (Southamerica), or buying one feature at a time (PDF annotating, templates, highlighting, around $5 each) I also would be interested in similar apps if you know any, specially apps taking touch and pen imput as different with PDF annotation. I have been trying a bunch of fonts and haven't settled on favorites yet... but here are a few links that may help you find some you like: https://www.typewolf.com/google-fonts http://2012-2013.chriskrycho.com/web...nts-on-kindle/ https://fonts.google.com/?selection....play|Work+Sans https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...62#post3740562 About the screen protector... I haven't applied the one that came with the device because I wanted to test it first without. I am wondering if it is necessary and beneficial to use a screen protector. I didn't like it on my old Boyue ereader and ended up removing it, but that is not a note taking device. Does anybody have any advice/opinions on the following two questions? Is the glass on top of the screen likely to be scratched by normal use of the stylus over time? Are the stylus nibs likely to last longer with or without a screen protector on the screen? |

Does anyone know if there is a built-in way to take screen captures on the Mimas?

I wanted to take a screen cap because I am hoping for some dictionary advice, and wanted to show how unreadable the definitions are with what I'm using right now. (Not the built-in dictionary, that one is actually quite nice, although I would prefer an even larger window so I can see more of the definitions without scrolling.) |

But holy ****... Application of this thing without any air bubbles was the worst thing ever... For anyone trying to apply the damn thing: keep a sticky roller next to you and clean the screen before application. While putting it on, start on the left or right and gently massage it onto the screen. And if you get any airbubbles, you might have to take it off and clean display and screen protector again with the sticky roller... Boyue should definitely apply this protector already in the factory... At home, every little dust particle turns this thing into a nightmare... |

I agree, my screen protector is TERRIBLE! They've told me it's not really for sale as an extra. I wonder if taking it off a week later will give a happy result on reapplication?? I've wondered about buying a generic tablet screen protector and cutting it to size...

I have a request...
Can any Likebook Mimas owners who are willing please make a sample note writing a sentence with the ink pen option, and then below it using the ballpoint option at the same line thickness level (or levels,) writing normally, and then post a screen cap here? (Or a PNG or PDF of the note.) I would appreciate it so much, because I was trying to figure out how defective my screen's pressure sensitivity is... but then I started wondering if perhaps it's considered normal for the ink pen option to be so much lighter, with normal writing than the ballpoint pen option. Maybe I just naturally write less aggressively? Thanks to Jask for the directions for how to screen cap: "Power button and page right button"... although PNG or PDF would work just as well. Mine is nothing like the thick lines Peter gets in this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7qsBJFQDl4 - not even close. However, though still quite a bit lighter at the same thickness settings, my Mimas ink pen option is closer to this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_sKpgmhj20- which makes me wonder if I just write with unusually light pressure. Thanks in advance to anybody who can post a screenshot. ![]() |

Here you go
link to picture I love writing of this thing BTW. If the PDF annotator just gets as good, it's a keeper. And PDF will be targeted in the next firmware:Boyue Twitter post The guys are also very responsive on Twitter... Last edited by Siggy1000; 01-31-2019 at 08:31 AM. Reason: Image was not working |

I put the protector and it sucked, lots of bubbles and spots, you have to get like a really clean enviroment to apply it (big mistake on my part). Tried reapplying it once and it became worse. Then I looked up on the web and gave it a last try, it was a nightmare but this worked: - remove the screen protector (it will get a lot of dust and particles from the enviroment on the sticky side, but I'll get to that) - clean the screen protector as much as possible, I used dishsoap and water and let it dry, then pat it lightly with sticky tape, try not to bend the protector too much. Now comes the hard work: - put the screen protector, this is to show every spot and bubble, try to use a plastic card to flatten the bubbles and show where the dust spots are - the screen is now full of spots caused by particles, not by air bubbles - start removing the dust, from the middle to the margins, this will take a lot of patience, lift the portector and use sticky tape to remove each dust spot either from the screen or the back of the protector, put it again quickly using the plastic card to avoid more dust into it (I used the notes app with touch ban to circle each spot to keep track of this task hehe), this took me more than an hour - eventually it will get good enough, the margins will be a little lifted but that doesn't botter me, and to be fair this rescue mission turned out pretty well Last edited by jask; 01-31-2019 at 09:46 AM. |

In the future when you do screen protectors. Steam up your bathroom and after the water is off and it's a little muggy do it in there. Keeps dust from floating around and sticking to the tape.
