Astigmatism in both eyes and far sighted so I can watch TV on a large screen and see well enough without glasses. Hopeless for reading a computer screen or book though. Eyes quite different but at age about 6 I damaged one while trying to open a rusty folding knife. Home done radial keratomy is not recommended. Getting by at age 73 so far.

I have a Kobo Mini and two Sony PRS-350s. All with excellent batteries as bought as NOS devices or with minimal use. I just got the clip-in case for the Kobo too which gives me the auto wake feature when the cover is opened. After market folio cases with that claimed feature have not worked well with the Mini for me.
Still looking for a unlighted factory case for the Sony PRS-350 as the lighted case is too wide IMO. Both the Sony and Kobo work well but I would love to see a Kindle 5" equivalent to the Paperwhite with the 300DPI screen and screen lighting. BTW my Sony PRS-T3 is by quite a margin the smallest and lightest 6" reader I have. Even with the factory lighted clip-on case it is still the lightest cased 6" at 215 grams. The Kindle Basic 2016 is 260 grans in a Fintie clip-on case and the factory cased Kobo Mini is 207 grams. Most of the T3 prices on ebay are ridiculous, as much or more than a Kindle Voyage new. Got mine with the lighted case from Goodystore for $50 plus shipping for the last Sony 6" e-reader made. |

One Kindle (PW3), one Kobo (Glo HD) and one Sony (PRS-650). If I could get the cover with a builtin light, I would likely use the Sony more than I do (which is not at all, really). Then theres all the iOS devices.

Was going to reply, sooner...but keep getting distracted by other posts and then forgetting to revisit this one
![]() I have lots of eyesight issues too.... Officially, I'm near sighted with astigmatism in both eyes. My left has a stronger prescription than the right, and I'm right handed...but left eye dominant. After that, I still have trouble seeing, where I have periods of time where my eyeballs will be a different shape and require a different prescription (there was one year where my prescription jumped around 3 times, eye doc now checks to see if my eye is 'normal' shape by comparing it with my previous visits...) But, I've pretty much given up on being able to see clearly in the distance....if its important, I can take a picture and view it later, also do this to read fine print like product serial numbers... which lately is what fills up a large part of my photo library. The largest part is screen shots... Wish the mac had font size controls, guess I need to get larger monitors. Current have a pair of 23.5" displays...angled so I'm square with one, and the other is closer... My distance vision seems to fade in the evening, probably due to too much upclose time. These days I have three pairs of glasses. The general Progressive pair for when I go out, a single vision intermediate distance prescription for computer / house work. And, a single vision full-time reading prescription....for reading...tablets and e-readers. I had considered at one time, getting an intermediate distance with bifocal for reading, since I'm sure to find a use for that. Though perhaps better would be figuring out the optimal prescription for watching my TV (or perhaps I need to rearrange things so I'll be closer)...and using tablet at the same time. But, I have been watching less and less TV lately.... On the subject as to a lot of us being nearsighted ... at an early age. I was 9 or 10 at the time. Was diagnosed as nearsighted before I rode my bike into a lamppost, but before my parents would get me my first pair. At the time, I could still see clearly to 12-14", and I was under pressure to eventually get a doctorate... so the only issue was whether being moved to the front row was sufficient or not to see the blackboard.... I preferred being near the back.... Anyways...having played with genetic testing, I get articles from time to time where I have the relevant markers....where I recall seeing an article last year about a gene that causes nearsightedness, but only in people that read a lot at an early age. Shoot, how do I go back in time, and unread to get my eyesight back? Time machine manual print too small... The Dreamer. Oh, I can see small text clearly if I get really close, which I do sometimes.... but all the nose prints are kind of annoying. |

I have to say that although my vision is extremely poor without glasses, I can see pretty well with my single vision lenses (they're cylindrical, so I guess I have astigmatism too, to a degree at least). I use the same pair of glasses for all activities, for outdoor and for computer (have to enlarge the fonts, though) and for reading. Only if I have to read really tiny print, I'll take the glasses off and put my nose near the text to see it. My eye doctor said that my vision is quite well compensated with my glasses. I haven't needed bifocals so far yet. |

Jeez. I cannot even imagine using anything, computer, tablet or phone, where I can't change the default size. Have never even seen such a product. |

It depends on how you classify ereader. If the machine can read ebooks, then to me that is an ereader.
I have one Sony T1 that is collecting dust but still works, I think. I do all of my reading on PC, three Samsung phones and one Samsung tablet that all have Moonreader Pro installed on them. So yes I have more than one ereader. ![]() |

Unless there is something wrong with the reading experience on the tablet, there is no need to waste money on a dedicated ereader. Not getting distracted while reading is a mindset, not a device flaw. E.g. silencing notifications will turn off all distractions that are out of your control.
