And the rotation feature on the Oasis is not really a hardware feature but much more software feature although the fact that it senses rotation could be argued as hardware feature. But rotation is not dependent on the hardware (it could be done in the firmware) so I'd argue it's not a hardware feature.

Your claiming Kindle has more hardware variation isn't a matter of opinion. It's demonstrably wrong with facts.
i'm not arguing or claiming anything you are, all i'm doing is having to consistently defend my opinion which as far as i'm concerned is completely WRONG, i never said what i think was set in stone or if i did please point me too it?

you have your opinion's which you are completely entitled to, challenge mine as much as you want but you won't change them.

so if you and whoever else don't mind let's please agree to disagree that's the adult grown up mature sensible thing to.

you don't like or agree with my opinion's then that's fair enough i respect that, please give me the same courtesy.

best wishes koboy

As of this moment yes. But more and more devices are coming on the market with USB-C. I'm sorry to break it to you, but it seems to become the next standard. I already reached the state where I have more USB-C cables than microUSB cables. While a few years ago I had more mini-USB cables than microUSB cables.

Absolutely!

i'm glad i don't live in your Country you are being robbed, in mine the KA1 is only £20 more than the Kindle Voyage.
The price difference davidfor mentions is about the same here:
€190 for the Voyage
€230 for the Aura One

(converted to US dollars, that's $25 difference in England, $40 difference in the Netherlands and $50 difference in Australia).

But comparing these two readers simply make no sense to me. Yes, they're both ereaders, but so different in almost everything else (even leaving the software out the equation)

6" vs 7.8"
Buttons vs no buttons
4Gb vs 8Gb
default light vs default light + natural light
nothing vs waterproofed
large battery vs small battery (I need to put down one really negative thing on the One!)

What they have in common: neither has a card slot. They both have wifi. Both have capacitive touch. So, that price difference is very well waranted in my book...

Yes, I'd have prefered buttons, yes, I would have prefered a card slot. Yes, I would have prefered IR touch (still not sold on that capacitive touch).

But that doesn't stop the One still ticking a lot of my must-have and nice-to-have boxes. Which is the reason I bought it. In the end, it's everybody's choice to make: which reader has the least drawbacks and the most positive points for me. Because the perfect reader for you doesn't exist (neither for me, and probably not even for JSWolf...)

When reading with gloves on! I always carpool with my husband, so, at the end of the workday, I'm usually waiting for him. And I'd like to read, even if it's only 5 minutes. But in winter, I have to take off my gloves because I can't page otherwise (I've used my nose too, but that looks silly).

When the time comes where we can just buy a USB-C cable and not worry if it's going to fry any electronics, then yes, let's go USB-C. But until then, hell no.

You can get gloves that work with capacitive touch screens. So that's a non-issue.

I've been using USB-C for two years now, and nothing has been fried yet.

No, it's not a non-issue. I've never seen gloves that I like and are practical for me, that work with capacitive touch screens. Remove the capacitive screen, implement the IR screen and it would also be a lot better.

You can also buy capacitive thread to sew into the fingertip of existing gloves.

Thread in leather gloves doesn't sound good And I was disappointed, I thought that my leather gloves would work, but they didn't!

Hmm, what about voice activation: Kobo, turn the page!

Good point.... But it's still nice if it had that option, just in case people want to use it!

Buy a capacitive touch stylus.
Snack and read as you use a hot dog for page turns.

That's why I prefer IR touch over capacitive. I can use anything as stylus.

And I did try a capacitive stylus, actually, when I just got my One. It didn't really work, as if I didn't swipe correctly...

two out of three ain't bad, i completely agree with the first two, but i do prefer the capacitive touch screen over IR, like you say the perfect e-reader doesn't exist for us all if anyone, but it would be nice to try and get as near to it as possible.

For me, that's the One.
It has the size, it has the room, it has the light, it has the touch screen, it only misses the buttons (hardware). And it has the layout options I want (software).

And ewww, burgundy! I hate that colour Red, now, that might work, but it would still have to be leather, as you can't use them while driving otherwise (at least, I can't, I can't grip the wheel firmly enough with other gloves).

What I'd hope is that they do the red light thing from the aura one and also move to a more modern CPU so that the thing is more responsive whilst still using the same power. Like a dual core 1Ghz cpu so that the rendering system will be way better. That or at he very least using a higher optimization level for the firmwares after compiling.

The 1ghz cpu seems to be the same across all of the things since the aura h20(whatever it was previously) I don't get what's truly changed inside of the hardware between that generation and the current one really. That's my biggest complaint with the system the rendering/UI responsiveness is garbage. Also if they're going to be making a larger screen one they better keep the mAh the same as the current one as the aura 1 is stupid. The increase in weight from that battery to one that's double the size(and keeps 1month battery) it still keeps it much lighter than any standard TPB novel.
