I feel like my Voyage is so simple to use. Even though I use a cover with it, the mandatory cover + reader that makes up the Oasis feels too fussy to me. On the other hand, for people who really like to hold their reader in one hand I'm sure it is great. I just hope they still have the Voyage as an option when mine decides to "give up the ghost".

I just noticed there is a Poetic Graph Grip for the Voyage for $5 on ebay. Ordered a black one.

The problem with getting another Voyage as a spare is that by the time your first craps out so you need the second, there might be a newer Voyage.

I just got my Voyage, and I'm soooo happy. I have a 1st gen paperwhite, and I'm so glad to finally upgrade. The reason I wanted the Voyage was because I love the flush bezel(threads and dust always get stuck where the bezel and screen meet on PW), I wanted a cover that could stand my Kindle up when I go eat out for lunch(I don't have to prop up on my purse anymore!!!), and I wanted to be able to use pagepress when I put lotion on my hands at night(I don't want my screen all funky).
Something was sticky on my screen when I got it so I'm going to mess with it to see if it left any imperfections. I think there might be 1 pinprick of light coming through, but I don't think it's enough to warrant returning it. We'll see. The lighting is great, and I don't see any weird shading or cones. Woohoo!!! |

I've been a happy Voyage owner for more than a year, and I still love it. No way I'm going to spend $290 on the Oasis.
That price is insane - for an extra $40 I can buy a refurbished iPad Mini 4. To be honest, the Voyage feels overpriced as well, given how good is the newest Paperwhite. |

New To Voyage
Count me among the happy Voyagers! I just received mine last Friday, and it's been a while since I "Kindled" (going back to the K3 days), so I'm reacquainting myself with the UI and bells/whistles. But I am happy to report that the lighting on my Voyage appears to be non-splotchy and pretty even throughout, although I must admit I do like Kobo's front light implementation better than Kindle's. I only wish the Kindle had a microSD port for those of us with ebook hoarding issues who want to have everything with them at all times

Hi everyone,
Not trying to start a war here but I did buy a Voyage during prime and well... it's ok to me but not that great. Let me get some things out, I currently own a Nook STR and use Calibre to manage my e-library (of course, what else?!). Really like the texture and the experience in itself. I live in Canada and I paid roughly $260 with taxes for the Voyage. I think I paid $130 at the time when I bought the Nook. I doesn't look like twice as good as my Nook. For sure, the lighting is great and I enjoy it very much. However, I'm not in love with the store (nor was I with Nook really) and it just feels... too light, like I'm worried about it getting crashed or broken easily and therefore need to buy a case for it. If it were less expensive I would have considered keeping it but it's just that I don't consider it as premium as that actually. A bit sad to let it go as it's still a good reader. ![]() |

Don't worry: No war will be started, as posts that attempt to start one will be promptly deleted.
Yes, you should definitely get a case for ANY ebook reader you own, in my opinion. |

I just got back from vacation last night and picked up my voyage from my neighbor, that I also ordered on Prime Day. I agree with Dr. Drib, a case is needed , I just ordered one today. I felt holding without a case was uncomfortable for me. I worried I would drop it. Although I think mine is pretty good so far, the screen looks good in different light settings. I've seen a dark blueish voyage screen before at best buy, and this one looks much better. I'm still getting used to the sensor \ buttons, but they work well, no complaints. The auto light feature is something I'll have to try over time, I read that they adjust to my preferences , so far it wants to be darker than I read at. So I may or may not use that feature. Time will tell with reading , which I have haven't done much yet. Still loading books on it, but so far it looks like a very nice device. I'm used to the Paperwhite, which I really like as well.
![]() One question though, can anyone tell if using the sensors instead of the touch screen, uses more battery ? Or are they the same ? |

Both use such a vanishingly small amount of power that it's completely insignificant.

To make it learn, I think you have to keep telling it "I want it at THIS level". i.e. resetting the level, after it changes it. Otherwise, it isn't going to learn anything other than its own algorithms.
