Yes, but that's something like 10 millions per pixel (I hope I remember correctly)... Three hundred thousand times "War and Peace" and still it would have covered a fraction of the screen.

That's a good idea. It's probably not something that most would think of, nor have such a cable on hand. I'm not sure how, but it would be good if those using their ereader as a monitor via USB were told about such cables.

So would say it'd make sense for somebody who plans on using it as a monitor quite often ?

The lifespan is equivalent to "if you used it every day in traditional 8hrs working-days for five years, assuming a pixel is switched on average every 5s (which is probably a lot)":

5 x 360 x 8 x 60 x 12 = around 10M

To check how often a pixel is really switched, that sh/could be tested.

And if you used A2 or similar modes instead of "normal" mode, pixels would be switched less often (2 states, maybe 4, instead of 16).

So, I would call it durable

USB have four pins, power-data-data-ground - check on Wikipedia the first image in the summary column -, just cut the first one.
Then, the cable may or may not work, depending on the devices to be connected: the USB specifications state that data should flow only if power is perceived, but the specifications are not often followed, so one should just try.

My mistake. Very sorry. I am usually thinking in terms of charging a device from a computer without triggering connection actions. Thanks for catching this.

@mdp I tried NX. Installed it in the raspberry (linux) and in the C67ML (android 4.4) and in the M96 (android 4.0.3). In the C6ML works almost the same than Teamviewer, but here is a very impotant improvment than VNC and teamviewer: Where you touch in the screen is where you click. No more dragging needed.

In the M96, NX closes as soon as I run the program. I contacted NX people and asked me about a log file I can't find. I assume I need to root the M96, and I had problems with that. I hope soon I can achieve it and send it to them and see this problem solved.

Mdp. do you have a i86 carta+ right? It would be interesting to know if there is any problem running there

Fantastic! So that's probably the future.
Actually, using e.g. the bVNC client touching the screen can also mean click. (Where did you need to drag?)

It would make us happy if you could shoot a video and publish it on YouTube. Is the raspberry itself fluid enough to serve for the demonstration? I have used RaspberryPI 3 boards and I do not remember them snappy as a desktop environment. The best would be if you could show the monitor of the RaspberryPI and the Onyx tablet mirroring through NX side by side.

Most probably, the M96 does not have 3d acceleration, OpenGL. Try using the "Terminal Emulator" (jackpal.androidterm), and type the command `cat /proc/cpuinfo`.
On the M96 you will probably read "... Freescale i.MX 6SoloLite EVK Board". This is what you find in (I verified) the T68, i86 and MaxCarta.
On the C67ML you will read a different CPU/hardware, something that supports 3d. If you could divulge what you will find there...

The i86 uses a i.MX6SoloLite: it does not have 3d acceleration, so NX and TeamViewer will not work on it.

So apparently it will be ready at the end of 2017 or beginning of 2018. Interesting. Still no idea whether to wait or just get Max carta.
