Yeah, I tried last year to buy the UK versions from Pottermore and I couldn't because (natch) I'm a yank.

It wasn't important (nor cheap) enough to try to circumvent the regional restrictions.

I had to have two accounts. One with a UK address where I bought them as a gift and my regular US one where I could then redeem the gift (or something like that, I don't recall completely). Of course now that you can buy them right on Kobo it's super easy to "travel", but they cost quite a bit more than $15.

Having read the British version, I can understand some of the changes. Little references to things in the real world like particular candies, or stores that don't exist in the US for example. But they could have kept the changes more minimal, just changing those types of things. I'm pretty sure the actual localization was larger.
