I don't care about card readers for my K7. My books reside in the cloud and I only keep about 10 of them on my Kindle at any one time. I currently have over 2.5 GB of free space that'll stay that way, pretty much forever.

You know this reminds me of when Amazon was advertising free wifi on their ereaders. Many people thought that meant they could access the Internet anywhere. Or thought it was like an iPod and put all their music on it.
Or both. |

Yep, it is not like eBooks take up much space, and PDFs suck on eInk devices so not much need to have them loaded in great numbers. An SDCard on a tablet is a good thing, but overkill on an eInk. If you popped a 32GB card into a Kindle, it would hold more books than anyone could possibly read in a lifetime, or at the very least, the lifetime of the Kindle. Not sure why some people think they need thousands of books on a Kindle. If they use those documents for research, then a Kindle is the worst choice for that, they need a tablet or computer. Loading thousands of books on a Kindle is just asking for trouble, trouble named "indexing".

![]() I'm always offline because the minute I go online amazon pushes some update on my PW2 and messes up my jailbreak and screensaver and I'm back to their crappy screensaver routine. I like to see the book cover on my kindle when I ''close'' the book. That being said, I don't care for SD cards in ereaders. PW2 has 4GB of space and I have so many books on it, I couldn't read them all in the next 10 years. |

Without necessarily wanting an SD card slot, a reasonable amount of on-board storage is a must. Last edited by Yolina; 09-19-2015 at 05:24 AM. |

I remember that. I was in Japan atm and my bf got me the PW2 when it came out. Jap. model had 4GB from the get go because of the manga. But USA model was 2GB. But as far as I know shortly after that they raised USA model to 4GB as well? At least I think they did.

Dunno about the US, but in the UK it was I think at least 6 months before they quietly snuck in 4GB in the PW2. I do remember being mightily annoyed with them for that one.

The kindle has no audio capability anymore. With that, there goes what little rationale for an sd slot.

I wonder if they put something in there I would actually want, which is:
1. More formatting options. With many books I need to set the font to 5 (from left) to get a size which corresponds to a normal paperback. Everything else is just tiny and tinier. Setting the font to 6 makes it HUGE... So it's often either too small, or too large. 2. A fix for the damned reading time problem. Very often I'm reading a book, and it says "5 hours remaining", which would be accurate. (I've timed it several times.) Then, out of the blue, it drops to exactly half that time, and the Kindle is then stuck there. If I didn't know the option ";ReadingTimeReset" (search for that, and then go back to the book), the reading time function would be of no use at all. Fix these two things, and my KPW1 would actually be perfect. |

edit: setting the font size to 12 point and a corresponding keymap wasn't that big a success... the fonts became so tiny that I needed to set them to 7 on the Kindle. Last edited by Katsunami; 09-19-2015 at 04:25 PM. |
