If you got the $10 credits and are a member then you may want to spend them on the Big Hits sale http://www.audible.com/mt/BigHitsSale/ which if I have my time conversion right ends in about 13hrs. Note the $6.95 price only applies to current members.

According to Random House audiobook's latest newsletter, they will be offering "Around the World in 80 Days" by Jules Verne at their Facebook page on February 6. It will be available for only 24 hours, so mark it down if you are interested.

For all of you Doctor Who fanatics out there (we know who you are hwlester) Big Finish has a great sale going on right now. For the monthly Doctor Who range of titles, they have had the first 50 titles available for $5 on download for a little over a year now (by my recollection). For the next 5 (4-1/4 left I think) days you can get any of the next 50 (51-100) for the same $5. If you have some holes in your collection now is a good time to fill those gaps.

Why We Read Fiction: Theory of Mind and the Novel--Free Ebook and $1.98 Whispersync!
I just posted the following on the Non-Fiction thread. The reason that I'm posting it on this thread is because some of you folks may not visit there (tsk! tsk!). I want to let you know that the Whispersync companion to this free ebook is only $1.98.
Before you get scared away by the title of the book, which book is an introductory book on "cognitive approaches to literature and culture," the description assures us that the writing in this book is jargon-free. If not, well, maybe some of you can use a good, cheap soporific. ha Why We Read Fiction: Theory of Mind and the Novel. By Lisa Zunshine. Rated 4 1/2 stars from 12 reviews at the present moment. Print list price $22.95; digital list price $1.99; Kindle price now $0.00. Ohio State University Press. 198 pages. http://www.amazon.com/Why-Read-Ficti...+and+the+Novel. Book Description Why We Read Fiction offers a lucid overview of the most exciting area of research in contemporary cognitive psychology known as "Theory of Mind" and discusses its implications for literary studies. It covers a broad range of fictional narratives, from Richardson’s Clarissa, Dostoyevski’s Crime and Punishment, and Austen’s Pride and Prejudice to Woolf’s Mrs. Dalloway, Nabokov’s Lolita, and Hammett’s The Maltese Falcon. Zunshine’s surprising new interpretations of well-known literary texts and popular cultural representations constantly prod her readers to rethink their own interest in fictional narrative. Written for a general audience, this study provides a jargon-free introduction to the rapidly growing interdisciplinary field known as cognitive approaches to literature and culture. Is it time to get excited yet? If you're an audiobook fan, particularly a free audiobook fan, then Christmas may not be your favorite time of year. Instead it might be some time in May, when Sync returns to our lives. For those of you unfamiliar, every summer the audiobook companies get together and release 2 free audiobooks a week - one YA title and one classic - in an effort to get kids into reading. It's been a success so they have extended the program for several years. Just today they have made a preview announcement of most of the titles. If you're interested (it looks good) then go here and take a look. TM usually does an in-depth thread for Sync and does a great job keeping you up-to-date and detailing the titles. I was just so excited I wanted to let everyone know what's coming.

I just posted on the non-fiction thread a marked-down biography of the "Elephant Man." The price now is $1.99. You can get the Whispersync companion for $3.99, if you buy the ebook. Total for an audiobook of the title, Whispersync'd, and a free ebook of it to boot--$5.98. What a deal!

Another Great Whispersync Companion Deal--Only $2.98.
I don't plan on this becoming a routine, but I want to tell you about another great Kindle ebook/Whispersync audio deal that I ran across.
I just posted a Kindle ebook on the Non-Fiction thread, The Anxiety Handbook: The 7-Step Plan to Understand, Manage, and Overcome Anxiety. It is highly-rated, with glowing reviews. This is the deal: the Kindle ebook is only $0.99; the Whispersync audio companion is only $1.99--total price for the audiobook $2.98. You can (or not, I don't care. ha) look at it as getting the ebook free to go along with it and, on top of that, having the advantages of Whispersync. I've listened to part of the narration, and it is very serviceable. Full disclosure: the playing time for the audiobook is only 3 hours and 14 minutes, because the ebook is so short.
