Amazon have contracted out to both Incipio and Belkin for traditional covers. They are listed with the origami covers as official cases. Both are cheaper than the Origami, and the Belkin is also lighter. They must realise not everyone wants origami flip covers which is why they have done this.

I don't see where they are part of the official line anyway, they both mention that they are certified as 'made for kindle' but doesn't that simply mean they are an officially licensed product that amazon are happy to list on their own site and sell themselves rather than it being amazon actively getting 3rd parties to create these for them?

The only official Voyage cover is the Origami one. All others pay Amazon to be listed.
If anyone is interested in the cut-throat world of Kindle covers(!) and the amounts involved, here are details of a lawsuit filed by M-Edge in 2011 against Amazon. Like Belkin, M-Edge used to be prominently featured in accessories for new devices, but for obvious reasons is no more. http://www.geek.com/news/kindle-case...ition-1453149/ |

Having just discovered the Voyage, I'm putting my order in tonight for a wifi SO with the AC cover. Guess I'll snag the charger too.
Yes, I'm late to the game. Better late than never! After placing the order, looks like delivery will be Nov. 12 for the Voyage and Dec. 5 for the case. Go figure! Last edited by speedlever; 09-29-2014 at 11:38 PM. |

There's absolutely no reason to order the charger. It's a standard USB wall charger. You either have one (or more likely, several) already or, if not, you can buy them an awful lot more cheaply than Amazon's offering.

Thanks Harry. I see the specs now are a 5w output. The K3 charger is only slightly over 4w. So no big deal. I think I'll let it slide for $15 though.
Initially I thought Amazon pulled an Apple trick and changed the charger specs. But I see now that I read it wrong. |

I have a charger that is a hold over from my old Kindle three, I am still using it for my current paper white. Matter of a fact I have several micro USB chargers and several micro USB devices and otfen play round robin with the chargers, it seems to make little difference to the devices which charger they are using as long as I am using a micro USB.

The difference can be in the charge times. My Galaxy S4 can take at least a 1900 mA charge. If I use a 500 mA source/cable, it will take much longer to charge.

Yes, most phones or tablets will charge a lot more quickly from a 10W charger than a 5W one, but that's not the case with an eInk Kindle. It's designed to charge from a 5W supply, and won't charge any faster from a high-capacity charger.

I must have been extremely lucky as I purchased my PW1 on the day it was announced (using a 1 bar 1x mobile connection in Yellowstone, where there wasn't even supposed to be a signal, it was very painful) and have had no problems with it.

The vast majority of them didn't have flaws, but there were certainly some. It's just human nature that the happy majority are, on the whole, silent, but those with problems (naturally enough) complain about them.
