There are two mini reviews of inkpad at our polish forum.
One guy send it back because of crappy screen and faulty firmware
The other one said that screen lacks good quality ...
Maybe because we had such high hopes for it and dont want them to crumble

I already explained why...

this kobo h2o with no light looks weird to me (too white):

http://weblog.sosin.eu/wp-content/up...1-1024x688.jpg

in comparison, vs this kobo h2o with no light, looks normal to me:

http://allesebook.de/wp-content/gall...ura-h2o-07.jpg

Pictures can be deceiving (even with no ill intent of the photographer - it depends on so many things, environment, light etc.) so I'm waiting for some more pictures and reviews on other sites.

As for the 100% light version. I don't really care how that looks on either device since I don't think I would ever use that setting anyway. It would be too damn bright to read.

Hello all.

My Inkpad has arrived yesterday (I live in Spain and bought it october 22 from the French Shop), and I can confirm that those pictures are not deceiving. Yes, pictures depend on many things, but in this case is true: contrast is not very good indeed.

I have a Kindle Touch to compare with, and the Kindle has a whiter screen and blacker letters.

BUT, despite this lack (and some others), I'm not unhappy with it. I'm not returning it.

Do you have a format preference (including page size and file type)? I have PDF, CBR, and CBZ I was planning to try.

The InkPad is simply unusable for graphic novels.

Its support for PDFs is very adequate, but when I tried to read a 10MB graphic novel the InkPad was unbelievably slow. (And it doesn't support CBZ or CBR).

But PDF features include:
  • multiple zoom options
  • reflow
  • auto-crop margins

It's also somewhat faster at turning the page in a text PDF than in a graphics based PDF.

That may be so with the apps that the device comes with, but try my app provided here: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=162852. It's for CBZ, CBR, and TAR files. Pick the "fwv5" version if you have the version 5 firmware on the device, or the "Pro-360+" version otherwise. And make sure to install the config file for the 840 in the device_cfg.zip file.

Thanks.

Edit: Well that came to nothing.

First, the InkPad doesn't want to show me the applications folder, but then after I found a way to trick it into letting me install that app.

Then the app didn't seem to be able to see the cbr and cbz files.

Thank you. That was really beneficial

That circle in inkpad seems dark blue with respect to in pw2

Is it same for the texts also?
