We'll keep it. It's still a good deal for our household, since our area has a very limited selection of non-Walmart/mainstream venues.

Fuel cost charges for vendors have risen frighteningly over the last few years - they vary widely here in Florida from week to week, order to order, so $1.65 per month increase does not seem that steep.

I never saw the value of UK prime before (I don't mind waiting a few days extra for the standard free delivery the few times I order stuff) and given that I'm really not into films, there's even less value in it for me at the increased price with addition of streaming

Ah, cool. I wasn't aware it didn't work on those. I can definitely understand moving away from them with the price increase.
I'm on the fence with them myself, just different reasons.

I don't understand why they wouldn't have an Android app. I know they want people to buy their devices, but why do they allow it on iOS then? (The Amazon Instant Video app isn't JUST for prime streaming, you can also play videos you've purchased/purchase videos to watch.)

Oh, I know, Amazon Prime is still a good deal depending on your usage and needs. I wouldn't discourage anyone from using them.

I always price compare when I make a purchase and I was surprised that this past year it was more convenient/cost effective to go through them than it was to go through Amazon. It was the first year (in the past 7 or 8) that I ordered NOTHING through them... and I actually had Prime this time around.
Walmart is across the street from where I do my weekly grocery shopping so it's not out of my way nor do I have to plan a special trip.

I'm not sure if I'm going to drop them or not yet. I need to find out what Netflix's streaming catalog looks like before I make that choice. I mostly watch "older" reruns which Netflix, when I last had it, seemed to be moving away from.

I don't understand it either...Netflix would be in trouble if the Amazon apps were as ubiquitous and well done as the Netflix apps.

Thanks for this helpful info!

Still, I'd love for Amazon to release an Android app for all devices.

This is true for me too. Almost tripling the price to add video content just makes it even less attractive an option for me. But I guess we aren't their target audience!

I've only once needed something so desperately that I chose the one-day delivery, and since they've reintroduced limits to some things you can get on the free delivery option, if I don't need to buy anything else at the time to qualify for free delivery, I'll just buy it elsewhere.

My Student Prime will be going up $10 to $49. Fortunately for me, my Prime renewal date was March 8, so the new price won't take effect until next year.

I think you guys are fixated on the Prime Video only. The real deal is in shipping savings. Amazon Prime Video is a rip off--too expensive! If they had a bunch of interesting free stuff in the video area, then it would be good. But as it is, anything I want to watch is going to cost me, and it will cost extra just to get it in HD. For my money, Prime is worth $99 for what I get to save on shipping alone.

PRIME isn't a video streaming service, it is a Shopping Club with perks.
Signing up for PRIME at Amazon is no different than signing up for Advantage Plus at SAM'S CLUB instead of shopping at Walmart. In both cases, your out the door price is lower but how you get there is different.
If you're not going to get your money's worth off the shipping perk you're not likely to get it off the streaming, free ebooks, or lending library. PRIME video is a nice enough streaming service but it is still no replacement for Netflix or Hulu Plus. Their digital video store, on the other hand is a nice operation.

Mine was the 1st. I'm not renewing next year though. I'm using the shipping feature less and less these days.

THANK YOU!!!!

For me the shipping is worth everything. Amazon is saving me a ton with shipping, as well as time spent trying to find what I want in a store and then having to carry it home. For me it is 99.00 well spent. I have never used the video feature.
