The cover does smell a tad of olive oil, I don't mind the smell myself but it is there. The feeling is excellent, not greasy at all, and it leaves no stains. The cover structure looks much more like the original one. Had my green cover arrived, I would try it on it and post pics, but it is not here yet.

Nail polish will probably be a PITA given the surface that needs to be done with it (and I'm not sure it's any better in terms of what's in it than the spray)

PU leather is just mostly glue and plastic and even real leather is often finished with some fairly unpleasant stuff so I'm not really concerned about using the spray varnish and handling the cover once it's dry (and aired for a bit!)

Edit: One spray varnish to avoid though is the PlastiKote stuff - friend of mine used that to protect some of her kids' erm, creations, and she told me it stank for weeks.

Just to report that the cover seems really well protected. I left my kindle in the kitchen yesterday, and my daughter dropped some drops of orange juice on the cover (not for test purposes, just not watching really) and they just pearled on it and were easily swept away.

I got post today.

But not from masamall (who answered my mail asking me to wait until the 10th, and after that he will reimburse me).

I got a cover I never ordered.... It is one of the perfect copies one, it is in purple, but the purple is totally different than the kindle one, this one has more red in it, the kindle has more blue. This one does not close well, plus the kindle color and feel is way nicer.

But I did not order this cover. So either masamall got mixed up, (I'll check with him), or the two others sellers I ordered from (but already received both covers) got mixed up. There is an expeditor sticker on the envelope, with a Hong Kong address, but it does not match with anyone of those three vendors...

My messed up map one was from masamall as well, so who knows. That one does not close, the front is all bent out of shape, and the map is upside down in the front: how many things can you possibly do wrong in a single case, huh?

PS: Thanks for reporting back on the olive oil enhanced case. OJ would completely destroy my unprotected one.

Wow, does everyone buy a lot of cases for their Kindle or ebook reader?? I feel bad when buying just one!! guess that's because i've been a student for the past 3-4 years! lol

What does everyone think of the original amazon PW2 case? I was thinking of just getting that…any thoughts?

Well, we have a disease and this thread is supposed to replace our helpgroup . The original amazon cover is the best as far as I can tell (and well, I've had some covers..)

No, I only have one case for mine too, its the official Kindle 3 case and I waited until it was a reasonable price before buying it!

All those in this thread that do try out various different cases are very helpful for people like me who like to do a lot of research and then just buy one.
