In what way has he lost access to purchased material? You can store more ebooks on 2GB than most people are capable of reading in a lifetime.
So no reason to panic.

No, remember? B&N DRM is built in to the file - with the equivalent of the buyer's name and credit card number.

As long as he remembers his credit card number and has a gadget that can read B&N DRM ebooks, he can read his books.

Oh - nook is the B&N one? Yes, in that case you just need to remember the exact name and CC number forever.

Only if he had downloaded all the books and had removed the DRM. Otherwise he's already lost access (for those not currently downloaded) or will lose access when the device it's on breaks.

I don't know the situation with Android apps.

I really think that Amazon hasn't really thought this (forced account closure) through properly yet with regard to Kindle ebooks.

I must believe they have thought this through --- Amazon seems to be convinced he has done something "really horrible" or they would give him a grace period to re-download the items. Otherwise they would be setting themselves up for a big time lawsuit. So IF the OP is an innocent victim he should contact a lawyer.

But even if he has not removed the DRM he still has the files on his Kindle and could remove the DRM now -- or keep on using them with DRM. As long as the Kindle doesn't call home via WiFi or 3G they will remain there (and I don't Amazon would secretly remove them, even if his reader could connect to the server, after the 1984 incident).

You are still the same person, you can't change that.
Some people use their friends account. So he could do that.
At least if they trust them more than Amazon does.

If Amazon are refusing to allow you to access your app and Kindle purchases and are also refusing to tell you the exact reason why your account was closed you need to email the CEO of Amazon in your country.

Be concise, polite but don't take no for an answer.

I read through about three pages of this thread. At one point the op uses the phrase 'all of my past accounts'. (plural) Another time they state only one different account. Seems something is up here.

I've bought products from amazon for about 10 years. I never needed more than one account ever. Why would one need 'multiple accounts'?

The reason for the account closing is stated in the very first post:

"We've found your account is directly related to another account which has been previously closed for abuse of our policies. As such, your Amazon.com account has been closed and any open orders have been canceled."

Sounds like some sentence taken from a selfhelp book.
How precisely would you suggest not to take no for an answer?
Stalk Jeff Bezos?

About DRM. I don't have a kindle, but as far as I know there is enough space to store hundreds of books on one device. So you should still be able to read your books. Am I wrong here?

And no, this is not the case "could happen to anyone" - otherwise they would be out of business by now.
You make no sense at all. Of course it can happen to any one. Mistakes can happen to anyone. Meteors can hit anyone. That doesn't mean it happen to everyone or even a lot of people.

If you get a no, write again, cc'ing the state AG, if you get no again, write again cc'ing your congressman. Then have a lawyer do the writing. That's how.

As I often find, I am 100% with HarryT on this one. I have spent hundreds of pounds on eBooks with Amazon. They have always been rock solid for me, but things change...

Calibre and those tools are your friend.

**Update

Well, it looks like it can get worse. My kindle has now been officially BLACKLISTED from amazon. My already-downloaded content on the kindle is completely gone, and I cant re register the Kindle so that I can access my archived content.

I logged onto the Kindle to see if I could redownload all the content and save them on my computer, stripping the DRM via Calibre. Not the best idea, as I guess the logging in via the closed account on my kindle flagged amazon's system, therefore blacklisting the kindle and wiping EVERYTHING.

Sigh.. Now I don't think I can even sell this kindle as I'm pretty sure a blacklisted kindle can't be used with any other account.

Brilliant.

You have no idea what they think you did?

How many digital items have you returned? How many items in general?

The OP said that Amazon told him that his account was associated with one that had been closed due to piracy. It's similar to being banned from MR; you can't just open a new account and come back again - it's the person who's banned, not the account.
