Incidentally, I did convert some cbz files into PDF to get that extra functionality, unfortunately, pictures aren't as clear. I'm not sure what the reason for this is.

I suspect that's a function of whatever security device they have attached. I have both and the KT when you put it on a scale the KT is lighter than the Wifi was and actually feels like a bigger difference due to the different structure/weight distribution.

The process of conversion to PDF will involve an extra step of compression. This is a fundamental issue within the PDF standard. You can try to mitigate it by altering the image compression options, particularly those that apply to dpi.

I bought one today @ Borders. The guy on duty today was much better, and claimed that they didn't have the latest fw because "corporate" didn't want them registering the device w/Kobo, so it only had the 1.9 OOB fw.

Just crazy considering how has been fixed and added since then and the fact that there was an update right OOB ready to go. I suggested that they at least get them to occasionally ship them an updated demo unit and ship the old one back at least.

Actually thas a stupid thing. (i had to reread your msg btw) The demo unit should be set up for the latest firmware. I cant see why corporate would be such morons about a thing. Maybe its the manager who has his head in the sand. Its not like im or anyone else is ever going to buy the demo unit not unless its 150% off and i get a full 2 year warranty over and above. That said sometimes they do things like this that dont make sense.

I only have one book where the index has hyperlinks and they do work. Unfortunately it is a non-Kobo ePub so that may not be relevant for your situation. I notice in the video that you are not waiting very long for the reader to respond to your tap. I am guessing that the document you are dealing with is very large so try experimenting with a longer wait time after a tap.

Also, have you loaded the document into Adobe Digital Editions to ensure that the index hyperlinks work?

ETA: One of my Kobo ePubs has a hyperlinked index and the hyperlinks work.

It is kind of stupid, but I think Kobo also has to shoulder some of the blame for not making the Updates available for download without having ot sync the whole thing to a Kobo account. (even though, if you do happen to get the update, the update mechanism works like a charm without the rest of the kobo hassle)

The problem is that the books I have (NIV Bible, HCSB Bible) that I most want hyper-links for, Kobo somehow messed up the contents page. I sideload through ADE and the problems are fixed, however I loose highlighting on the book (by default. There is a workaround, however it could corruption).

Well dictionary support for non-Kobo ePubs is in beta evaluation so hopefully highlighting will soon follow. Meanwhile, have you contacted the Kobo Help Desk to see whether the Kobo ePub can be fixed?

Joe

I've sideloaded an EPUB and have two kEPUBs, all three different titles, with which I've been experimenting using endnotes/hyperlinks. None of the three work properly -- they either won't navigate at all or they'll jump to the wrong areas within the book. I'm willing to concede this is partly due to user error, but I don't think that the hyperlinks are working as intended on the KT either. Or it could be screwy coding within the books, I guess.

EDIT: I did notice that for the one book with an inline TOC, that those links worked but the endnotes didn't.

Is anyone else having trouble changing margins in their side-loaded books? I just got my Kobo today, I can change the font, fonts size, and line spacing, but the margin slider doesn't seem to do anything. Or maybe it's a setting in Calibre I need to change?

edit: Nevermind, I read this post and that fixed it right up.
