Well, I won't be able to give you any recordings I guess since that will quite probably be forbidden...but I'll see about that program thing. Not sure whether I'll manage, but we'll see.
It's still a while to go until the job starts, but I'm already starting to worry again...looking for affordable apartments...^^ |

Sure, but while just anyone can find an apartment, only a few exceptionally talented musicians can land a great job as a violinist!!! You've made it this far, so I'm sure the apartment will work itself out just fine!

Well, the apartment is found...the contract has not been finalized, but I guess we'll manage that...
![]() It's nice and large, well situated (not close enough to the Opera house for my tastes, but it's OK). I hope the neighbours are OK and that we can live with the loud street that is nearby (the windows are pretty soundproof, but something always gets through...I hope not too much) and then I have another worry more or less removed... ![]() Now I can concentrate on other things for a while and then start taking care of the actual move in July. Of course I'll have to order certain things soon (like the company that will move most of our things and some of the furniture) but that's not too bad...now...I'll have to work here this week and then I can start worrying about my exam... ![]() |

That's great! Congratulations!!!! What a relief that must be to have this all done and over. It's been quite a ride for you!
![]() Btw, maybe it's even an advantage that there is some noise there by the apartment -- if it was too quiet, your neighbors might expect complete quiet from your apartment too, and you'd never get to practice! ;-) |

![]() Speaking from that experience, a simple box fan can make a lot of difference in dampening whatever gets through the windows (or the ruddy walls) -- cheap and effective, a rare combination. We keep one on every night, mostly pointed at the wall as we don't really need the cooling effect, just the white noise. ![]() The new place is so quiet that at 10pm on a Friday night about all we could hear were air conditioning units cycling on and off, we may need the fan there to cover up the quiet. ![]() |

NatCh, I come from the school of thought that if you can hear your car muffler then you need a new stereo. Therefore, I have seldom had neighbors that I thought were loud.
![]() CommanderROR, congratulations on finding a place so quickly. May you be blessed with neighbors that ask you to practice more because they enjoy the music so much. |

Well, my contract arrived yesterday...and it leaves quite a few unanswered questions...
I'll have to ask around whether i should sign it in that form or not because it looks a bit fishy...but of course I don't know much about this kind of contract...could be standard issue these days. Problem is that it correctly declares the first year "probation", but it does not state what happens after probation...that is highly worrying. |

Heh! You didn't really think everything was going to be completely "easy" did you!
![]() I'm sure it will work out, either with that contract or with a clarification. I know with apartment rental agreements in the US, it's fairly common to hand write a clarification on the contract before signing. Maybe such a clarification is possible on this contract also. Good luck! |
