Finished my morning fresh squeezed OJ, and ordered another 40 Lbs box of oranges. Looks like this batch will be blood oranges. They tend to be a bit tart, but with good flavour.
In my cup: more Peet's Major Dickason's coffee. |

Good Morning. It's almost a brand new year!
Last of my morning coffee in my cup and trying to decide if I should try another specialty coffee I was gifted or just get going on my errands and finish the laundry. |

Lazy at lunch, so just a diet coke. I really need to get this out of my diet...
Better, now. For afternoon tea, a Walker's Shortbread, a couple of HobNobs, and a pot of Okayti Estate First Flush Darjeeling (Peet's). This is a lovely first flush. Strong floral notes in the nose, and a bright, green and floral mouth. Delicate but not insipid, this is what a good first flush Darjeeling should be. Last edited by CRussel; 12-30-2011 at 07:40 PM. Do you freeze the oranges and thaw them out a few at a time?

Nope. I buy a case of them at a time, keep as many of them as I can in the refrigerator, and keep the rest as cool as reasonable. I use a Waring Citrus Juicer to squeeze them every morning (and evening.)
In my glass: Glenmorangie Nectar d'Or. |

For people looking for tea deals...
Zhi tea is having a free shipping and 20% off sale today. http://www.zhitea.com/ I am going to order some Rooibos from there because they have some different flavors and I need some new variety. Lupicia is having their annual good luck bag sale starting at midnight East Coast US time. http://www.lupiciausa.com/ Last year they had black, green, and herbal bags. You don't know what you are getting but that is half the fun. I find their teas to be too flavored but if that is your thing it is a fun way to experiment with tea and get some cute goodies as well. |

Morning has broken, like the first morningBlackbird has spoken, like the first bird Praise for the singing, praise for the morning Praise for the springing fresh from the word ![]() ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ESHjYat9rk ) Happy new year, everyone! It's 9:30 new year's morning, the sun is shinning in a bright blue sky, and it's the perfect beginning to a brand new year! I've a big mug of Ahmad 'English Breakfast' tea beside me, my wife is cooking the traditional Japanese New Year's breakfast called "Ozoni," a soup made with 'round' ingredients (yeah... round, as in shape... round shitake mushrooms, rounds of daikon, round mochi... etc.,) and in a few minutes I will join with Japanese people all over (at least, those who aren't too hung over) in a culinary welcome to the Year of the Dragon. Well, actually the Year of the Dragon doesn't begin until the Chinese New Year doesn't begin until January 23rd, but the Japanese believe in getting a head start.
For me, the most memorable was when it started on January 31. That was in 1968 and I was in Saigon... Not the best place to be on January 31, 1968. It was called the "Tet Offensive" and I wanted to be somewhere else. Anywhere else. Thank God those days are over and we can enjoy the Chinese New Year in Saigon once again. Happy New Year to all! It is believed that the year says a lot about one's characteristics/life... Next year it's "water dragon". Prof Crash's kid would be good at swimming, I believe ![]() (Me, I was born in "metal goat" year. What is that supposed to mean?? )And it's been awesome to be here for 1 year. |
