The Vent and Rant Thread

Today was NOT a good day to be on the roads in a car! It's the beginning of the Golden Week holiday season in Japan, and virtually all schools and companies have their vacation time... All of them at the same time. Although it's called Golden 'Week,' most companies only give their employees 4 days off, and most employees, being so loyal to their companies will only take 3 days off. After all, you can't let the company down. I'm sure that's common in the US too... .Come back from vacation a few days early because we care about helping our company.

Every day we will now face 12k-15k bumper-to-bumper traffic jams. Instead of a 55 minute ride somewhere, it will take 3-4 hours. Last year there was actually a 27k traffic jam in the Tokyo area. I don't understand why people will even try to get someplace long distance. Airports are jammed. Bus and trains are over filled... But nobody seems to mind and no one gets upset. In the cars they all turn their TVs to the local sports station and just wait.

Fortunately, it's legal to split lanes on my motorcycle.

It looks a lot like my Honda Fit. Cute.

Edit: And no wonder -- it's the same as our Toyota Yaris, which is very similar to the Fit. Good choice!

I've been considering getting a Yaris for a bit now....

For some reason manufacturers insist on changing names of things sold in different countries. My last motorcycle was called a Honda 'Steed' in Japan, but called a 'VLX' in the US. The Vitz in Japan is indeed the Yaris in the US. I don't know why it needed to be changed. Most movies get a name change when they are shown here too.

Sometimes the changes are needed though. We have a sports drink here called "Pocari Sweat." I doubt that would work in English Speaking countries. And the famous Chevy Nova didn't sell at all for obvious reasons when it was brought to Spanish speaking countries!

I just had a huge argument with my sister again!!!

My head was hot. My blood boiled in the veins. Needless to say I called her all the names and granted her all the "positive" adjectives I could think of.

Then she hung up on me (we were talking on the phone). I threw the phone on the desk. I stormed my way to the bathroom, hand-washed all the clothes and ground my teeth while doing the washing.

I need a Red Bull now.

I was awakened shortly after 3 this morning by Arwen who was hanging from the curtains above my bed and yowling her fuzzy little brains out. she is in heat. again. the Vet does not want to spay her unless she is a full week without the squirts. she hits about 3 days and goes another round. *sigh* she then spent the next several hours knocking things off the headboard, my dressers and so on. she has managed to break the antenna off of my phone and a water glass. I was seriously considering trying to get a bit more snooze but I have to be at a luncheon at 1230 and pick up a gift certificate first. oh well. might as well go into the office and do "work" as the motivated get the uhhh worm, right?
