In my cup: Lemon mineral water after a rather warm walk with the dog. (Yes, I know, a hot Christmas sounds weird, but a cold one feels odd to us!)

I read recently in the paper that "man colds" are actually considered to be worse than the ones women get. You poor lambs!

Good luck with it Stitchawl and please don't die on us.

@aceflor, best wishes for your Mother.

@Stitchy, at least you are not here where it's hot, for some reason a cold always seems worse in the hot weather. I hope you recover enough to taste Christmas dinner. You could try my current favourite (in cup right now) of Twinings lemon and ginger infusion, deilcious and good for colds.

Got my 22 stitches out today, wrist in a splint for 3 weeks and then the dreaded physio.

and I bet the study if there was one was done by a man. The amazing thing is when a man has something really bad wrong, they try to play it down.

Well, yeah! They most certainly are! I'm always surprised when I wake up and discover that I actually lived through it. Mancolds are terminal. Just ask any man!

I made myself a huge mug of ginger and ginseng tea, using fresh ginger and some ginseng I bought in a Chinese ginseng market in Kuala Lumpur. The shopkeeper swore it was so potent it would cure an earthquake!

Not this man! I want all the sympathy I can get! You should hear me howl when I get a blister on my finger from turning on the dishwasher!

Ginger and Ginseng tea actually tastes pretty bad... but I'll be brave and finish the whole thing.

OK, back from taking most of the day off from here yesterday. Though I'll probably be pretty light all weekend. I'm off work, but have a tonne of stuff to do that's been backlogged. First and foremost is work on my smoker, a Bradley that I'm converting to be on a time/temperature PID controller. This so I can make sausage this weekend.

In my cup: Fresh squeezed OJ and a pot of Peet's Major Dickason's brewing.
