Recovering from my team's Christmas lunch today (alcohol free, at least for me, due to long drive home), and making up for it now with a glass of red wine. On holiday as of this evening until next year

Have a good holiday, astra. We'll miss you. This main forums here are likely to be hopping right after XMas, but it will take them a while to find our little home here.

I'm going to have this done in Thailand rather than here. Japanese doctors love Looooooong hospital stays. Even a broken leg with a walking cast patient is asked to sleep in the hospital for a week after casting, even though they go out during the day! They told me I'd have to remain in the hospital for at least four weeks following the surgery... The Thai ortho guy told me 3-4 days. Nicer hospitals too... On my third cup of Assam tea this morning! Waiting for DH to come back from collecting the mail and picking up a cappuccino on the way home, that's after he's hung out the washing. There are a few (very few) advantages to having a broken wrist and that's one of them.
Stitchy I know a couple of people who have had knee replacements and they are so pleased with the results. Here in Oz they chuck you out of hospital as soon as they can. I think the secret to a good result is being absolutely dedicated about the physio and the exercises they give you to do, no matter how much it hurts. When I broke my leg just under the knee about 4 years ago I couldn't bend it at all, but I worked really hard at it and now have full movement. Go for it I say. |

Good luck to you for the operation, Stitchawl. I don't know anyone with a knee replacement, but my sister-in-law had her hip replaced a few years ago and wondered why she had put off having it done for so long.
Nothing in my cup at the moment as it's mid afternoon here so I'm between beverages. |

An (unusual) touch of insomnia means I have sparkling lemon and lime with zero added sugar in my cup at far too early an hour of the day (4:27am)
Back to bed soon, once I've caught up here on MobileRead. |
