6° here with the rain is coming down for the next few hours. Tomorrow and Sunday are predicted to have a mix of sun and clouds. Next Thurday, the overnight low is supposed to hit -12° with a mix of rain and snow. Friday gets rather nippy with the high hitting -10° and the low hitting -15°.
Any resemblance between the weather and this paraphrase of the weather report is impurely coincidental. |

There is an old joke about "How can you tell if the weather person is lying? Their lips are moving."

I stayed up one Xmas eve watching A Christmas Carol - and suddenly heard sleet bouncing off the windows - so I quickly tuned into a local station for the weather - where the announcer was blandly announcing "Clear and dry tonight - sorry kids - no white Xmas" -- I wanted to phone up the smug ***** and shout "Look out your window!" ![]() |

It started snowing here at 1:30 in the afternoon. We are, as usual, right on the dividing line between weather systems -- heavy snow with little rain is expected to our north and west, while one to two inches of snow followed by heavy rain that washes it out are due south and east of us. Right now we have a couple of inches of snow and the temperature is 33°F, but it should rise slightly overnight as the winds shift and bring in the rain. Odds are we'll have an inch or two of sodden snow still on the ground before the rain and snow move on tomorrow.

It's -1℃ and it's snowing. Sometimes it's snowing very little, sometimes a bit more. Today it won't get any warmer and during the night the temperature will drop to -7℃. Currently it's cloudy, but it should clear up in the early afternoon. For the next couple of days cold, but sunny weather is predicted. It will be windy, so tomorrow it'll feel like -15℃.

2° and raining in my area. Higher elevations are seeing a mix of rain and snow or snow. This week is supposed to get colder so the snow level is going to drop.

Tomorrow promises to be a "fun" weather day - heavy rain and gusty winds, after a soaking rain this weekend, tornado watch - probable power outages ... the TV forecasters are visibly salivating ...

No change other than the temperature is now climbing from 2° to an expected 4° overnight as the clouds move in and wrap us in their warm blanket.

Currently (7.40 am) it's -5℃, but with windchill it makes it feel like -10.6℃.
It's going to be a clear day, so in an hour or so it should be sunny, but windy and cold. |

Yeah, my office covers 7 counties, many of them in the "Orange" zone, so I've shut my office for the rest of the day. Lots of folks who needed to pick kids up.

So much rain on Tuesday. It got up to 50 degrees and now 52 at 6am Wednesday. We've had little heat. It doesn't stay on long enough to ever make it warm, but it's just high enough temp to be legal. I stayed in on Tuesday, got up extra late. I have to wait until Wednesday or whenever it clears a bit to pick from the laundromat (dropped it off Monday).
Rain and storms Tuesday have been all up and down the east coast of the U.S. |
