I have friends that made a trip on their bikes through Vietnam, and although there were not so glad with the motorbikes, they were very enthousiastic about their bikerides and the friendly people they met everywhere.

I did it myself for several years and nothing happened. Well, almost nothing happened. Yeah, I fell off sometimes but I guarantee you nothing serious would happen.

In Canada I did ride to work, but here it is to dangerous and even if it wasn't the heat makes it a little difficult without showers at the office.

It seems that Vietnam is a great country to bike through. I never fall of the bike; yes, in the beginning when I learned it, as a little child, or when the roads are iced over.
I go everywhere on my bike; I just love the freedom.

I have also heard that riding in Vietnam is supposed to be very nice, I met a couple here that had ridden from Ho Chi Minh city, they loved it. Lets face it they had to be a little nuts, I'm scared to drive through Southern Thailand, I wouldn't want to be on a bicycle

Try Switzerland! An awesome country to bike through. And it's a country that is actively promoting bike routes.


Now my rant:

I wish those crazies would all drop dead on the spot. Some crazy first bashed in the head of a woman with a fire extinguisher and then, after a short chase, shot a 48 year old policeman, who died of his injuries. And this shortly after a huge incident in another part of the country, where another crazy started shooting in a shopping mall.

It's always the some. Back in the '70s I stopped watching the news for about eight years.

In this country we just had a woman, who was ticked off at her husband, drive herself and three of her kids into a river. All dead.


A lot of these people exhibit personality problems before they start killing others. The problem is that no one is willing to risk a lawsuit by reporting them. And if you do report them to the police, the police can't do anything until after something happens.

Of course then people start talking to the reporters about how the perpetrator was acting a little weird for the past few weeks/months.

I agree, if they would all be so kind as to just line up somewhere next to a hole in the ground and just drop dead and fall in - all we'd have to do is push some dirt over the top... problem solved!

I've just decided to change my habits. Less news and more light hearted fiction and other upbuilding pursuits.

Don't forget to tell the people you care about that you care about them.
