whenever i hear talk of kittens, i feel both happy and sad. here in the provinces of my country, the locals would put the kittens in a bag and go far away before releasing them. otherwise, they would know how to get back home

Yes! Yes! Or rather Aye! Aye! I learned Scottish by visiting Scotland. Of course I had to ask the Scotts to talk more slowly.

So now I'm taking out all of the cat hair, dust dirt and pine needles, putting them into a garbage can and trying not to breath in all of the dust that's flying into the air. My saving grace is that I have an identical vacuum that I've been meaning to put on ebay or Craiglist, so I can use that one to vacuum out the other bag so I can re-attach the interior hose.
I don't have that problem with my Roomba, Fred. I just empty his little dust bin every day, and he gets up at 2:00 AM and fills it back up with kitty hair!

Damn Allergies!!!
Thanks to the not connected hose in my vacuum, yesterday, and 3 months of cat hair, dust and dirt, I woke up hoarse and with bronchitis. I an only imagine that it's a bunch of dust mites irritating the mess out of my respiratory system. Ugh!

You're funny! I would LOVE bamboo floors. Years ago I remember someone say that people that grow up in single family houses walk harder than people that grow up in apartments because they never have to worry about neighbors below and walk without having to think about it. I probably did walk heavier, because of that, before I moved to the tiled sub-tropics. The tile floors used to kill my feet. I couldn't figure out how everyone could have them, they are just so hard! After 6 mos or so, I learned the trick. Walk softly and I'll appreciate the low upkeep tile requires.

That's freakin' hilarious! That used to be me!! LOL... I have 2 Kirby's so you can only imagine how I might have babied them and loved to keep them all shiny and new looking. I'm way over it now and realise that they're going to last me 50 years, so get over it!

BTW, I did not pay full price for them. I'm a bargain hunter and since they will last most of my life, buying them used it a great money saver. The first one I bought used and it lated 12 years. The only reason that I didn't replace the broken part is because I wanted a newer model that was self propelled. The "new model" that I bought was refurbished, shiny and new looking but, 10 years old! Check this one out for sale on ebay. I bet it's still going strong!

Christmas of 2009 I told my SO that I wanted a gym membership. There's a really good gym 5 blocks from here, so we both joined. We went faithfully for a full month, then I kept to working out at home. I dislike having to "get ready" to go to the gym. At home, I don't have to comb my hair before hopping on the StairMonster, AND I can watch a movie while doing it!

I have thought about getting one of those. I think my cat would love it AND I wouldn't have to vacuum as much. I have tried to just sweep since there is so much tile, but it leaves the floors feeling gritty. Ewww...

I used to get up early and hit the treadmill or jog, it does start the whole day off in the right way though - I just need to get back in the habit. I wish where I worked had showers - I could do something at lunch.

Yes, Fred is wonderful, and the kitties tolerate him; but give him a wide berth. He does get stuck occasionally, usually on the base of the floor fan in the living room. Each morning before leaving for work I have to check to see if he made it home to his charging stand; and if he’s not there I have to go hunting for him.

I love my roomba, but it's sick at the moment. (Won't hold a charge.) And let me tell you, they are a godsend for elderly people. My brother bought my mom one a couple of years ago and it has made it SO much easier for her to keep house.

My kitties don't mind it too much, either. They don't ride on it or anything, and they keep a close eye on it, but they certainly don't run and hide.

Well ... this is more like a statement made after coming home from the hospital maternity ward ... and unwrapping the little pink blanket ... and having a wildcat emerge into your living room!
[but a very cute wildcat]
