Here we get few flies, I suspect due to the profusion of geckos, spiders, wasps, hornets, et cetera. Same with mosquitoes. Also, the two storey atrium/entry seems to act as an upsidedown pitcher plant - they fly in low, zoom up towards the light of the windows on three sides, and then beat themsleves to death on the panes.

Actually, here in the barn, flies and wasps are part of the ambiance. We have these wonderful devices called "uplights" to shine on the vaulted ceiling. They're amazing at collecting the remains of fried flies. It's too bad that they are so high up on the wall that we can't reach them. One of these days they'll just start to overflow, if the bulb doesn't burn out first. It's actually too bad that the bulbs aren't hot enough to completely vaporize them on contact! It's one of those design flaws that you don't realize until it's too late.

All future lighting now shines down!

I just realized that the fly and mosquito populations here are nonexistant so far. Kinda odd.

I would never deprive a spider of a meal.
The only bugs I eat walk on two legs, poohsmear.
