Me, I would happily go to DST year round. I hate it when it gets dark so early in the wintertime.

i am wondering about these people who have rated a certain author's work quite highly. i semi-ranted about said author here before (that i got a book of hers from amazon and it had several grammar errors). so i said to myself, 'well, if lots of people like her, maybe i should give it another go.' so this time i decided to read several reviews, since i didn't want to throw away several dollars. lo and behold, i found reviews that criticized the author's grammar and apparent need to either get an editor, or if she has one, to listen to her editor. only a few people pointed out the grammatical mistakes, which i am grateful for, but i wonder how the rest were able to enjoy it thoroughly...? one said that it was so full of spelling errors, punctuation errors, and most of the sentences no longer made sense.

I'll propose sleeping in a hammock between two palm trees and tossing time into the surf.
I'm tired of the snow and this stupid cold spring. ![]() |

We're soon to change back to standard time (southern hemisphere) and the early mornings are quite dark now. So it will be good to slide the clocks on an hour. Actually the main downside of this for me is changing all those clocks. The computers are okay, of course, but there seems to be a clock in everything these days. Some of them get forgotten. |

hum...so there's this new frozen yogurt shop that opened up just outside the school (specifics are too complicated), and it seems to have been run by students. i'm guessing they bought a franchise as the brand is an international brand.
anyway, the first time i bought there, they did not give me the exact change. i thought, "okay, since the pricing system is per ounce (i think, something like that), it's hard to get exact change." but i couldn't help but be miffed that they rounded down my change. okay, it's a business. fine. second time, i went back just to see if the experience would repeat itself. this time, i THOUGHT they were going to round up my change, since it was so near the point of being rounded. again, nothing. i was annoyed. what i don't understand is, why they're rounding down so drastically. i mean, i don't remember anymore my exact change, but they could have given me ten cents (it was around 19.26, something like that. that was the first time i bought). what irked me even more is that they didn't put up a sign anywhere that they weren't giving exact change. i mean, if your change is supposed to be, let's say, 20.56, you'd at least expect to get the 50 cents as well, right? (we have denominations for 25 cents). but no, they'd just give you 20 paper bill. i was tempted to ask them but didn't want to start a fight. |

![]() As for DST, we don't have it in Queensland. A lot of southeast Queensland people would like it. Me, having come from a state that had it...well, I like like watching the sun vary its rising and setting times progressively through the year, giving a sense of the change of the seasons without the jump in times. It keeps reminding me of the Big Outside that moves on no matter what's happening inside myself. So, I'm a "No" voter for implementing DST here, but there's a lot of "Yes" folk. Cheers, Marc |
