Researching IBAN (International Bank Account Number) for my client. Interestingly, there is also an Indonesian tribe called Iban, which makes the Google search results kind of poetic.

Sometimes I wonder how the chronological center of Europe (well, Western Continental Europe) came to be situated in Germany. Or would that be Italy? Or Norway? Why are we, in France, living on their time and not ours? And it's even worse for the Spanish

Of course, there are advantages to being all on the same time. Well, almost all (guess who's not a team player, uh?). But who got to choose whose time that was?

Am I making any sense at all?

Since legal, political, and economic in addition to purely physical or geographical, criteria are used in the drawing of time zones, it follows that actual time zones do not precisely adhere to meridian lines. even though the Prime Meridian (0°) passes through Spain and France, they use the mean solar time of 15 degrees east (Central European Time) rather than 0 degrees (Greenwich Mean Time). France previously used GMT, but was switched to CET (Central European Time) during the German occupation of the country during World War II and did not switch back after the war.

Funny, I thought it would have been due to Napoleon ...
