Let the attachment below inspire you to great artistic heights! (This is one of my favorite covers - ever.)
That cover is a classic (and actually relates to the story being told, which is more than can be said about some covers)! And happily, ol' Stevey Gresham has his books available on Kindle, though searching for them is incredibly frustrating. Here is a link to most of his books (including Rockabye Baby with a sadly more tasteful cover): Stephen Gresham

Hey, Ruby Jean Jensen is back as well. I've never read any of her stuff, but I used to hear her name a lot. I'm always happy to see shlocky paperback horror come back.

Oooh! I cut my reading teeth on horror but I somehow missed her stuff the first time around. And at those prices, I'm very much looking forward to checking them out!

I actually bought an omnibus collection of 3 of his novels sometime last year. (I just checked, and the collection is only $4.99.) Rockabye Baby was one of those 3 novels. I did an epub split on calibre, and added that classic cover. And Lo! It was good!

I subscribe to her news list. On Smashwords, you can buy her newest re-release (before it's offically available) for only $.99 cents. On Amazon, it's available as a pre-order for $2.99

Check with Smashwords on her titles. I get all of her titles that way - before they're officially released, for less than one dollar each. (Once they're released, the price is the same as Amazon.)

I read Ritual either last year or this year (it blends together). Not my favorite by him but quietly disturbing book!

I did not realize so much of her stuff is now so cheap on ebook. Her grandson texted me on Goodreads years ago speaking of a re-release imprint they were working on, he saw I was one of the few reviewers of the author and gave me a heads up. I'll have to get some of the digital ones

I had paperbacks that was destroyed over the years because I got them so young (and irresponsible, with rabbits and dogs). still have a few but none are great condition. I used to find her stuff all the time in used bookstores....but not anymore.

Anyway it looks like they have CELIA for 99 cents. I have the paperback version of this still and it was my favorites by her in memory. Dark stuff and good book about a woman escaping an abusive husband/life with the bayou - strange stuff, was always a favorite of mine by the author.

They also have an informative website. And a newsletter with a free book offer! Visit https://www.rubyjeanjensen.com/.

From what I learned on a podcast (The Horror Show with Brian Keene), it was believed that Ruby Jean Jensen died without an heir -- and of course without a literary estate. For that reason, her books could not be reprinted as they were in limbo. Then, it turned out that she had a daughter! As her daughter owns the rights, she was able to get the books back into print.

I decided to buy some Stephen Gresham myself. I saw the omnibus, but bought the standalone Rockabye Baby and Moon Lake.

I immediately slapped the crossdressing nurse on Rockabye.

I'm dyin' after reading a review posted for one of Gresham's books:

Stupendous. Brilliant. Excellent. This should be required reading in every school. Readers will love this mesmerizing tale. I should know, for I am the author!

Yeah, partly it's the incongruity of it obviously being a man in women's clothing, which in pop culture usually means comedy. And the blank expression on the face.

He kind of reminds me of the actor who played Drew Carey's brother

Who's character was also a crossdresser

Based on a true story?
