Is there any way to get Kobo Reader to sync bookmarks and/or reading positions with a Calibre instance on a LAN?

Battery consumption at standbay

After version 680 I noticed an increase in battery drainage during suspend time.
I checked with almost all the intermediate versions until now and its not fixed yet (currently trying 715).
The consumption varies a lot, but its always much more than the last normal working version, which I think was 678.

Is anyone else notice similar behavior?

When I bought my Aura HD it was already later than that, but consumption seems significantly higher than with nickel during sleep, so I assume we are talking about the same thing. Turning off wifi helped somewhat the situation, now daily consumption in sleep seems on 5% level. (I didn't have a day with full sleep, I like reading more than experimenting ).

Wifi needs a lot of power while working.
I don't know whats happening when idle.

The smaller consumption I got from the "faulty" versions is around 1% every two hours in suspend (Wifi off).
The bigger is around 5% per hour.

With 678 I got less than 1% over night (9 hours)

P.S. I know about the battery monitoring problems, so I check in the middle 'stable' region of 35-65%, using Koreader, Nickel and the KSM script.

@embryo: Is this on devices with the thing looping in the background to avoid stalls? Because that would surely ruin standby battery consumption .

I think that this is part of the preventfreeze.zip I installed after the KBStartMenu_04_update01a

But that does not explain why it started with 680 and why all versions before it worked without a problem (actually these are two ways to say the same thing differently ;o)

As I remember the initial discussion for tshering's prevent freeze script, it was only intended as a temp fix, mostly to help diagnose the problem.

I have an AuraHD which didn't encounter that problem, and I also seem to be charging it more often. There is also a slower performance, page turning in very large documents, recently. Perhaps the two could be related?

Luck;
Ken

I prefer the KSM, myself, but you might try the advanced boot, to see if that isolates the problem.

Luck;

Only as a last resort, since my system is also dual-booting Android and except this small problem is just as I want it...
When I find some time I'll play with an other SD card.

P.S. 715 has the same problem.
Checking 717 ...

I have daily 5% with advboot. For me it seems high, but I have no big experience with the Aura HD.

for what it's worth: i am using advanced boot and also need to add a "prevent-freeze" loop on my glo, running 3.8.0 firmware + koreader 675. So you might not be able to get rid of the prevent-freeze code by switching to advanced boot...

Thank you.
One less thing to check.

Update:
717 seems to be working OK till now.
2% in almost 12 hours of standby.

Question Page flipping mode on kobo glo

Has anyone managed to get the page flipping mode to work on a kobo glo?
https://github.com/koreader/koreader...ips-and-Tricks

I was hoping that this would let me quickly flip through pages - in paper books I often like to flip forward to get an overview of what's coming to the end of the chapter or flip back a few pages to find a relevant diagram or section. I'm mostly reading large (400+ page) PDFs.
When in page flip mode as described in the tips & tricks I either get random, seemingly uncontrollable page jumps or nothing at all (often just selecting text instead). Is there a trick to getting this to work? anywhere in particular where the panning should start? Or is it just not compatible with large documents?

Also, is it supposed to use regular screen updates, or switch to a faster mode like the monochrome hacks used in some of the android ports?

Another option is to export to evernote. That way you never have to connect to your PC. The format in evernote is pretty good until you try to edit the exported note.
