Fine with me. The USPS has become one of the most reliable delivery mechanisms in my area over the past few years. They used to suck, but they made quite a few improvements. And we can now track the packages closer to real time. Both UPS and FedEX have screwed up several deliveries to me in the past year or so. A couple of years ago Amazon used another contractor here in north Texas and they were so bad and unreliable that I never see them anymore. I guess Amazon quit using them, thankfully. I assume the current contractor issue will result in his company getting axed from Amazon's delivery list too. I hope so.

Perhaps what has increased is that more items are not available to ship out the same day we order, perhaps due to an expanded marketplace of sellers, or cost-saving JIT inventory systems. When almost everything they sold was ready to ship same day, we just got kind of spoiled that 2-day shipping also resulted in us getting it delivered in two days from order.
Last week I put a 2-day order in the shopping cart then noticed during checkout it was not scheduled for delivery for two weeks. I deleted the item. The issue is that Amazon often uses multiple merchants to fill the orders. The web page on which I put the item in the shopping cart said not only "Prime 2-day delivery" but it also stated "get it by [2 days from the purchase date]". In those cases, then 2-day delivery has been further described by a date two days in the future, therefore "2-day delivery" literally means purchase today by a certain time and get it two days from today. But if they have more than one merchant selling the item, you never know what you will get as far as delivery until it pops up in the shopping cart. In my case I deleted the item, returned to the web page for the item, and selected an alternative merchant who had it for the same price and actually offered 2-day delivery from date of purchase.

Note: that 2-day delivery is actually 2 business days.
Our running boards were Prime but had a note that it required a few extra days for shipping.

True, but remember too that the USPS and Amazon's own contract delivery services will deliver on Saturday and Sunday in many areas, including mine. I have actually ordered things on Sunday and had it delivered the same day here in the DFW metroplex. I've also ordered next day delivery on Saturday and got it on Sunday, and 2-day delivery on Friday and got it on Sunday. Not all locations have that though, especially not in rural areas.

Take note, you live much closer to an Amazon warehouse than I do. I don't think USPS does many Sunday deliveries here.
I am guessing you qualify for Prime Now.

Clearly not in two days, but more and more Amazon seems to interpret the Prime 2-day shipping to mean from the time it is shipped rather than from the time it is purchased. Not cool IMO, but that isn't the interesting part. The item shipped out of Shakopee, MN and was initially brought down to Dallas via UPS. I checked on its status this morning and discovered that UPS has now turned it over to the USPS for delivery. The USPS has it listed as out for delivery. I've seen carriers shift a package back and forth on occasion, but I had never seen UPS pass to the USPS.
I've always received my orders in two days from purchase. When you go to checkout there should be text saying when you will receive your order. If it does not guarantee a delivery date in two days, I don't purchase. But that doesn't happen very often.

I frequently get packages on Saturday and Sunday, or order on Saturday and receive on Monday. You need to check their delivery date at checkout.

I always do. If they come USPS, I will get Saturday deliveries.

Curiousity question: What is the population of your area? Our area is too spread out and not populated enough to get Sunday delivery or UPS on Saturday.
Not counting the two cities which has 200,000 people total, there are less than 10 people per square mile. So total average including the two cities is less than 50 people per square mile and most are in pockets of people with many miles in between.

Even in a large metroplex like DFW with 7.2 million people we still have to pay out the backside for UPS Saturday deliveries, thus Amazon does not use UPS for Saturday deliveries. At least I've never had an Amazon purchase delivered on the weekend by UPS or FedEX, unless I paid extra for that service.

I just looked it up, and my county is 231 - 857 per square mile. There are areas I would consider very rural with low population, but I am in a suburban area. You must be in the boonies. We don't get Saturday delivery from UPS in this area. As far as I know they don't do weekends. FedEx does Saturday, but we get either USPS or Amazon delivery on the weekends.

Edit:
I just checked for Texas, and there are a lot of low population densities.

I would say that the vast majority of Texas is sparsely populated. The bulk of our population comes from Dallas/Fort Worthless, Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and a handful of other large and medium sized cities. Many counties have very few people due to desert conditions or because they are hundreds of miles from anything else. The western half of Texas is a totally different place than the eastern half. Just take a look at one of those dark sky websites that shows lights on earth at night. Pretty dark to the west of IH 35! That is true for most of the western states too. Draw a line from Brownsville up through Fort Worthless and on up through St. Paul, MN and most of the lights are to the east of that line and most of the area to the west is dark until you get to CA, OR, and WA state.
