Yes, koreader uses /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf as file config for wireless linking, this file can have more than one entry, and wpa_supplicant will handle the entire association with AP.

In some cases the file is deleted by nickel and you'll need to "add a network" again. This happened often to me (I use fmon to trigger koreader) when I toggle wifi in koreader (or even before start koreader) and didn't turn it off before exit. A workaround for this situation could be use our own copy of wpa_supplicant for koreader, and turn wifi off before exit..

Actually is isn't possible to edit the file with koreader, like in the kindle

It is easy enough to make that happen in Nickel then "disable" WiFi in Nickel. The wpa supplicant will remain set and both Koreader and the Kobo Start Menu (KSM) will make use of it. As far as turning WiFi off after using it in Koreader, I haven't seen anything for the user to do that or even anything, in Koreader that shows the status (on or off) of the WiFi. Just to be safe, I turn it off in KSM after any use in Koreader.

Luck;

You can always use suspend to turn WiFi off (as stated here)
Checking for OTA update after suspend lets you check that is off.

Just to say that nickel also comments out unused saved networks in wpa_supplicant. If you uncomment the other networks, you can auto-switch between networks.

@gontofe: Probably a corrupt download, scrap the ota/koreader.updated.tar.part file and try again.

Added The Baen free books library to the OPDS list: "http://www.baenebooks.com/stanza.aspx?feed=free"

Not that much there and I still need to set a download directory, but it does seem to be able to access the catalog.

Ah yes, although I did try that earlier, and it didn't work, I tried again and it did. Hmm.

All sorted now

Another try on starting koreader from nickel. I changed the script to reboot at the end any case, but still database errors, like it was not closed (seems like unfinished writes to me). I added sync before killing nickel at the beginning of the script. Now all my books are added again (my fault, I forgot to clear the SD and adding back 10-20 books before experimenting), but that may be because of re-loaded database.

Anyway, the question I have: does anyone start koreader from nickel? If yes, anyone else experience the same problem (starting koreader corrupts KoboReader.sqlite)?

(Totally other question: it is nice that . , and such items are out of the justification, but ? and ! are also out of the line of characters, and it makes the look of the page a bit odd, can this behaviour be changed?)

In the beginning almost all of us Kobo users started Koreader from Nickel. You need not have Nickel or the database know anything about Koreader. Trying to have both Nickel and another program manipulate the same files, would endanger the database Nickel is slaved to. The best bet is to have the files that you use outside Nickel, behind a "Hidden" folder so the database never sees them or any changes made to them by any other program.

Uncheck floating punctuation from the menu.
If it is unchecked, check it and then uncheck it again to work.

I should believe you sooner or later . I changed to advboot, so this part is OK, and today I hope I will have time to split the library.

I just checked the database, now it is OK. Unbelievable, it seems advboot solved it.

Thank you, I didn't know what exactly this switch mean.

I usually highlight errors in free books, and correct them later. I see I can highlight, but I see no menu point to list these highlights. Is there a way to do this?

Ebri, copy the corresponding file from the history folder to your harddrive, it contains all the highlighted parts.
