There is much to say about the audiobook and book, especially of a commendatory nature; I encourage you to look over all of the info on the webpage for the ebook at Amazon, especially. The one characteristic of the audiobook that "jumps out" to me, however, is the fact that it is over 36 1/2 hours long! Some people may consider that a good thing; some people may consider that a bad thing. As an ineradicable bargain hunter, I am in the first camp--I love the bang for the buck and punch for the pound in this deal.

I'm a "bang for the buck" kind of person too and I couldn't resist this. I have a few audiobooks, but don't listen enough to have a membership. But there are times I do start a book and then switch to audio when I have things to do, so I grabbed this. Thanks for posting and saving me a bundle as well

And, thank you for the feedback. It's hard to know sometimes whether a post is a dud or a home run (a little mixed metaphor there for you), especially when I post a fiction book, because I know almost nothing about them.

The Audible Daily Deal is Maurice by E.M. Forster. I've read this tale of two young men who fell in love and it's a good one. It was written at a time when such things weren't spoken of openly, and the Room With a View author did not let it be published during his lifetime. $2.95 today only.

$4.99 -- Wilderness & Other Stories -- Dean Koontz/ multiple --> 13.6 hrs/ R-3.9 --> anthology

Quote:
Whispersync: no deals at this time | Audible

"The world is a machine that produces endless surprises and mysteries layered on mysteries."

"Wilderness," a darkly intriguing short story first published as an e-book original, was written as prelude to Dean Koontz's novel of mystery, suspense, and strange wonder - Innocence.

Addison Goodheart was born in an isolated home surrounded by a deep forest, never known to his father, kept secret from everyone but his mother, who barely accepts him. Only in the woods, among the wildlife, is Addison truly welcome. Only there can he be at peace. Until the day he first knows terror, the day when his life changes radically and forever....

Twelve of the other fourteen short stories and novelettes included in this audio anthology were most recently reissued in a print collection entitled Strange Highways, published by Warner Books (1995). The other two - "The Scariest Thing I Know" (2000) first published in Martha Stewart Living magazine and "Hostage Situation" (2009) in The New York Times Summer Thriller series.

Only the short work "Down in the Darkness," has ever been produced for audio.

Book 5 of the Mike Daley/Rosie Fernandez Legal Thriller Series--A $2.98 WS Deal!

The book being from the New York Times bestselling author Sheldon Siegel. This book seems to be very popular, also, based upon the large number of reviews for it.

For some reason unbeknownst to me, ratings for the audio portion are a little tepid, especially compared to the great ratings of the ebook.

Title: The Confession (Mike Daley/Rosie Fernandez Legal Thriller Book 5).
Genre: Fiction (Thriller/Crime).
Author(s): Sheldon Siegel.
Price: $2.98 (ebook ($0.99 marked down) + $1.99 Whispersync audio).
Regular Price of Audio, by Itself, at Audible: $17.95 (1 credit).
Ebook Rating/Number of Reviews: 4.4 stars/442 reviews (Amazon).
Audio Rating/Number of Ratings: 3.8/40 ratings.
Pages/Audio Length: 396/9 hours and 7 minutes.
Narrator(s): Sam Guncier.
Audible URL: The Confession (Mike Daley/Rosie Fernandez Legal Thriller.
Amazon URL (you can get the whole Whispersync deal here): https://www.amazon.com/Confession-Da.../dp/B00428LBDQ.
Comments: There are 7 books in the Mike Daley/Rosie Fernandez series.
Book Description (Amazon):
Mike Daley doesn't go to confession much since he left the priesthood twenty years ago and became a lawyer, but that doesn't stop his old friend, Father Ramon Aguirre, from trying to get him there. "It wouldn't kill you to go to church once in a while," he tells Mike. But it does kill someone.

For several months, a ruinous sexual harassment suit has been building against the San Francisco Catholic Archdiocese, and when the plaintiff's lawyer is found dead, an apparent suicide, an almost audible sigh of relief is heard in certain quarters. But that is before the police find evidence of murder. Even worse-the evidence points to Father Aguirre.

Mike and his ex-wife law partner, Rosie, jump in to take the priest's case, but what started out as difficult soon appears impossible as forensics, witnesses, and secrets from Father Aguirre's past all incriminate their client. Soon, their wits are the only things keeping the priest from a life sentence or worse, and wits simply may not be enough-unless they can conjure up a miracle of their own.

Could be, could be

If I were the Supreme Monkey Overlord for this planet, I'd ban the following genres from literature: zombies, vampires, romance, business, and self help. Be thankful that I'm but a mere tubemonkey whose primary concern is finding ripe, delicious, golden yellow bananas.

So you dislike three major fiction subgenres, too--that is, unless less you believe that there really are zombies and vampires, and that the romance portrayed in the romance novels actually sometimes does happen. Then it would be non-fiction, for you, not fiction.

I am beginning to think that there is hope for you yet.

So you think that celebrity memoirs are fiction, or mostly so? ha

I don't care for autobiographies for much the same reason--there's too much fiction in them. The person writing an autobiography wants to make himself or herself look as good as possible or, at a minimum gloss over a lot of negative stuff. I'd prefer a biography, most of the time. Although that's no guarantee of complete objectivity.

Science fiction . . . . if was going to read fiction it very well might be a science fiction book. I used to actually read some of it as a child.

I'll agree with celeb memoirs; but never sci-fi! The very definition of literature is sci-fi.
